Any idea on who these guys are in terms of talent and readiness?
Kay is the better of the two prospects but from what I have read neither project to be front line starters. 3rd or 4th starters.

shocking to see Stroman go to Mets who dont look like a playoff team. Wonder if there is a flip coming - 3 days left to trade.

Neither is ranked in the Top 100 prospects in baseball.

Here
I don't like the trade. Poor deal. The BJ's should have got much more for the Stro Show.

OTOH, I don't know what the BJ's scouting reports say about these 2 minor leaguers and I don't know what was on offer elsewhere.

If that was the best available, they should have extended and kept him. But that might have been too late for Stro. And if I were in his shoes, I would have thought I would be traded to a contender not an also run this year.

That is not the first time the BJ's have alienated one of their stars before having to make decisions like that.

I heard one analyst say prior to the trade, that they should wait for the off-season. There would be more teams with aspirations looking to improve their pitching for next season than there are playoff contenders this year (not that the Mets are contenders, which is why so many people were puzzled that the Mets grabbed him). More teams would have been bidding.

I'm with Perry, they gave up their top pitcher for a couple of maybes. It may work out down the road but it is baseball and these guys are prospects and a lot of prospects disappoint.
Wonder if the Jays could get a shopping cart of balls and a few aluminum bats for Atkins and Shapiro?

The Stroman trade sucks big sweaty balls!

What the Shapeyero regime have done is set back the Jays another year before they can become competitive, with the starting rotation already decimated they should have offered Stro an extension. That would have been the sensible decision. They should consider themselves lucky Larry Tanenbaum is not involved, he's already losing his underwear on the Argos, he would have fired them at the end of the season.

No way shapeero wanted him on the team. He was an Anthopoulous acquisition. Who's left? Smoak and Sanchez?

Smoak, Sanchez, Tepera, Biagini, Travis remain from the 2016 club.

I was slightly shocked seeing Dante Bichette with a chrome dome. When he played for the Rockies alongside former Expos Larry Walker and Andres Galarraga he had a classic mullet. Good ol Boy Kevin Barker is starting to piss me off. He's still mispronouncing Cavan Biggio's name. It's not Bigio, it's Baggio only with an "i".

has Vlad Jr figured out ML pitching?

He mashed his second Grand Slam vs the hapless Royals. George, the amount of torque he generates on his swing is unreal. Had an "L screen" been in place you would have heard the ricochet.

Vlad is starting to live up to the hype. Looking real good offensively, batting average rising and the power is becoming more consistent. Defence improving as well.
As for Bichette WOW! Looks like these kids feed off each other. Now if Rowdy gets it together and the get an other outfielder or two that can hit and play D, the position players should be in place.

Vlad has a stronger arm than I expected, he's missed a few routine grounders but the defense will come. I'm going to date myself, he's actually a better 3rd baseman than George Brett was when he was a rookie. I hope he doesn't get hemorrhoids like Brett did, I remember him nearly fainting when, as a joke, Dave Winfield pinched his ass crack.
