...but I doubt it shows you when I a player is in a groove.
If the computer has all the necessary data -- and it probably already has -- it can compute patterns swing by swing, pitch by pitch, and tell you what, analytically, a hot streak, a cold streak and an average streak look like. Even predict probabilities for the next pitch or at bat based on the actual situation on the field...

Everything people do happens in patterns. Whether or not we know what those patters are, is a different question.

The computer would not be 100% accurate but way more accurate than that gut feeling... and that is not denying the value of gut feelings. But give the computer enough historical data and it can reach very high predictive accuracy.

Get used to it! That is what The Information Age and Artificial Intelligence means!

In the future, teams won't even have to play the games. They will just feed in all the latest data and information and the computer will calculate the outcome.

From Mike Wilner's twitter:

Charlie Montoyo was asked if he feels he needs to try to force the issue when #Bluejays are at bat -
send runners, bunt, get things moving, etc.
He answered with a smile: “We have to get to first first.” #GallowsHumour

Counsellor:
You are right, as long as you are "techie" enough you can probably find solve calculate or just about what ever you want on these damn things. So using the information you just laid out, why would anyone want to own a professional sports team? If they will be able to calculate the results of a game why would anyone pay to see it or bother to watch? If one knows how to apply all the information does that mean gamblers may now have the edge?

"In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is."

And I thought you would get a hint from the nodding green face about no need to play the game... I guess I guessed wrong!

BTW, professional gamblers always calculate their edge...

Go back and watch the original Jurassic Park and see Goldblooms explanation of chaos theory.

Then apply it to a spinning baseball at 97 miles per hour.

Then see how the computer models shape up.

So, I watched 2 1/2 games. They CAN'T hit! The pitching kept them in the games, but if you can't get on base, what is the point? It's going to be a long season.

What do the movie Mississippi Burning and a Blue Jays scorecard have in common? You’re going to see a lot of KKK in both.

The no-hit wonders.

They lead the entire league in strikeouts (by a wide margin too)

do the Jays even have a hitting coach? Same mistakes day after day....but hey Chris Sale coming up...the over under is 3 hits and 11 strikeouts. Also I think Stroman is going to blow up at the team for lack of support

They will get 3 more prospects and lower the payroll and people will tout how many youngsters we have.
3 prospects, you think Shatkins will get 3? Really? if they do they will all be middle infielders!
