I thought there was no one I could despise as much as chair throwing girl, then these whiners calling 911 to complain about the amber alert came along.
If you think people being scared shit-less and complaining about is as bad as purposefully voluntarily throwing a chair off a high story balcony, putting many lives at risk, you need to get out more often.

Have you considered that by tying up 911 phone operators they may have put other lives at risk?

Petty selfish A-holes all of them.

Well said.

An 11 yr old girl goes missing, amber alerts are issued and tragically she is found dead, apparently killed by her father.

And people actually complain about the time and nature of the alert??

For all those people who complained about any of aspect of the amber alert system....I hope someone close to them gets in serious trouble and is not saved or found because the amber alert time gets restricted to a time range they believe is more convenient for their precious sleep time

The complete self absorbed nature of some people is beyond belief.

Unless there’s a nuclear intercontinental ballistic missle headed straight for us... I don’t want my phone suddenly screeching some annoying alert.

Well you can't really believe that . I don't wish any harm on anyone no matter how stupid their thinking is .

Well if that's the case an Alert is only going to tell you that you will die soon . An annoying alert . Really . Would it be annoying if a family member was involved ? Would you care if that alert annoyed the public if it was a family member . Think about it .

I've never understood this argument. Yes, I wouldn't care if I annoyed the whole province if it was a family member. This is because I'd be emotionally compromised in that moment. Not because it makes sense to blast an alert out to the entire province.

Again, I'm completely fine with the amber alert so long as it can be silenced (using the "do not disturb" feature) during regular sleeping hours. And I think the people calling 911 to complain about the system are abhorrent. But if the system is misused, it's going to lose its importance. If a person receives an alert a dozen times in a row for events occurring 500 miles from them, they're much more likely to dismiss future alerts, some of which may be more local. Especially if they chuck their phone through a window after being woken up for the third time in a night.

In the USA they have a right to silence or even opt out of the alerts

Yet here in Canada even after the cellcos asked to be allowed, the Libtard government DENIED us the right to disable these alerts

I think its great how many people tied up the 911 lines, here is hoping we get a future story about how a real emergency fell through the cracks as payback for the Peel police misuse of the Amber alert system (and person files a lawsuit against them)

I'm not going to look for a missing child when I am sound asleep in the middle of the night or listening to someone blather on in a conference room. I am fine with the alerts of course but I should be able to silence my damn phone when I'm unavailable, without having to power it off. That is technically achievable so let us have that little bit of control. Other times, fine.

My phone was on and switched to silent mode. I only saw the alert when I picked up my phone to check my social media and it showed up in the notifications. No sound was ever generated because I had my iPhone on silent/vibration off mode.

I'm sure I read somewhere that a lot of SP's especially hate being disturbed at 3:00 a.m.
If you don’t want your phone to ring at night, you could shut it off. I’m pretty sure here is still a way to power down most phones. Some people seem to think there is no off.
The excuse I’ve heard is you need to have phone on or the alarm won’t work. I have a clock/radio alarm. I know they’ve gone out of fashion, but I think still more of a nessecity than a phone. Every hotel room has one.

As much as Blackberrys are considered out-dated and out of fashion etc. their functionality is quite good. I use one as a burner and the alarm will go off even if the phone is turned off. It also has an auto on/off feature so that you can have it turn off at night and turn on in the morning at specified times.

Functionality wise they bury Android
What killed them was lack of apps since that is how the world went
