When there was no PCness for Halloween costumes:

I remember walking down Yonge one Halloween, a guy had a gigantic foam dick attached to his groin-LOL! fucking hilarious!!

Kids dressed as cowboys, indians, pocahontas.... it was the norm back when I was trick or treating.

When I was growing up in the 60’s, my dad was a devoted CFRB listener, in the car and at home. So it was a steady diet of Gordon Sinclair, Betty Kennedy, Jack Dennett, Jocko Thomas (from police HEADQUARTERS), Bill Stephenson on sports and Ray Sonin’s “Calling All Britons”. I remember a lot of commercial jingles that played continuously on the station, most memorably for Milne’s fuel oil. “ You can depend on the friendly men at Milne’s, no matter when trust the friendly men at Milne’s”.
Holy crap ... yes, yes and yes. My mother had it on at home. I think the most oft played "band" on CFRB was the Morman Tabernacle Choir. I nearly shit myself one day when I heard CFRB play "Michelle" by the Beatles. My dad had it on in the car all the time. I remember being left in the car on a rainy Saturday afternoon while my dad was in the hardware store. He would leave the radio on ... while I wated in the car. He didn't know it but that was like punishment. The highlight of "Calling all Britons" was Ray Sonin reading out the Saturday scores for all four English football divisions and Scotland. "Liverpool 2, Everton nil."

Unless I missed it, I have not seen any mention of the El Mocambo on Spadina. Saw Devo there in .... 1978? Used to drink quarts at lunchtime when attending U of T in the early 80's. although the most famous band to play "The Elmo" was The Rolling Stones, I really wish I had seen Blondie there.

Remember when the drinking age was 18 and bars closed at 1 a.m. We used to catch last round in Ontario then bomb across the border into Niagara Falls NY to keep drinking.

How about those television tube testing machines in convenience stores to replace a tube that was burnt out!

Anyone remember those?????
Count me in. I do remember using those tube testers at the drug store! I felt like a real teckie when I'd figure out which tube was and and I'd go home and make that old RCA work again...

I could never last the full 20 minutes.

I used to watch sitting on the couch. I wonder if there were any guys who actually worked out while watching? I’m guessing maybe zero, unless you count getting a stiffie as exercise... lol!

Here’s a link to the models. My fav was Nicole. I used to love how by the end they were a little sweaty and doing the pursed lips breathing thing or when they were doing the cool down stretches with the upper body movement like they were being thrust into slowly from behind... Would have given my left nut for a horizontal workout session with Nicole!

Anyone remember these 3 guys that would be on yonge st all the time?

1-old skinny guy with moustache that would always wear an NHL referee jersey?
2- A young guy with a disability that sold pencils from a tin can? (he was stationed at the SW corner of Yonge and College IIRC)
3- a young black kid who was a ventriloquist?

Don't remember those guys, but I remember the sticker lady. Would place a sticker on you and say "I'm giving out a sticker to good looking guys today. Was also wondering if you would like to make a donation to (made up bull shit charity)"?

I also remember the "peace lady" that would stand over DVP on the bridge waving peace sign and also hold signs.

Loved it. Got hammered many times doing that.

It would be great if they brought it back. I didn't hobby then and going to the different pavilions with this perspective would be interesting.

Oh, and getting hammered would be fun, too.

I really love the fact I grew up in a city where I felt attached to station. Another very innovative program by city tv.

Stuntman Dar Robinson jumping off the CN Tower in 1980 , he free falls for most of the way, before a ratchet mechanism (he's wearing a harness attached to a cable) slows him down and gently lowers him to the ground.

Instead of the "Sky Walk" they have now at the CN tower, they should have this instead!!!

How many of you would try it????
