In the mid 90's there was a short lived strip club just maybe 2 or 3 doors (in the building where 'Flash Jacks" used to be) north of the Zanzibar, I believe it was called The Silver Rail??? any one ever go there?

The Molson Brewery plant on Fleet St just east of the CNE's Prince's Gates.

Before the invention of the VCR, you could rent NHL playoff films there if I recall correctly, lol

Ben Wicks, David Susskind, Alan Hamel, Alan Thicke, Take 30, Joyce Davidson, Magistrate's court, the Galloping Gourmet.......all shows I remeber from the 1970's weekday afternoons the odd time I'd be home from school.

Sport Stores +1

Anyone remember a couple of downtown sports stores with unique scents inside, probably from the old wooden floors;

>Watsons (on Church near Shuter?), I think in the basement they sold house brand wooden hockey sticks they had a nail through the toe of the blade.
>Bloor Cycle and Sports (on College St?), I bought my first 10 speed with Campagnolo gears.

Anyone remember that hump in the road on the Gardner Expressway (near Dufferin?) that you could literally launch your car up kinda like in the Bullitt movie ?:bump:

Bloor Cycle was at Bloor and Dufferin ( SW corner)
Other long gone cycling shops I miss include Spinning Wheels ( Carlton/Parliament) and Avenue Bikes ( I think, can't recall the exact name; Avenue Rd/Davenport just beside the Porsche dealership)

I think the shop beside Downtown Porsche was called Pedlar's Cyclery (or Pedlar's Cycle). It was a really good shop for a long-time, then started to become a bit of a douche-bag hangout before they closed (kind of like Downtown Porsche... LOL!)

Anybody remember the Dairy Queen at Vic Park and Lawrence (South East corner)? When I was a kid, it was a sign of Spring when this opened (it used to close down for winter). After Dairy Queen - it went through various conversions - eg: "Steak Queen" - Last time I was there it was kind of a Middle Eastern food place and pretty good but that was a few years ago.

The other restaurant in the same area (Lawrence just East of Vic Park) was called "The Copper Kettle" which was another place my parents would take us - usually for a Sunday brunch/lunch - it was a round building with a copper roof. I think the original building is still there but has been converted into a church of some kind. This was back in the days when suburban restaurant choices were very very limited - especially for a family with kids. Another memory is Howard Johnson's restaurants which have all but disappeared from Toronto, as far as I know. When I was a kid I used to love their "Tendersweet clams" (deep fried clam strips).

It's called The Humber Hump, (https://www.yelp.ca/topic/toronto-the-bump-on-the-gardiner) where the Gardner crosses the Humber River.
It's still there only much smaller. You can feel it if you're in a car with stiff or lowered suspension.

For you sports guys, anyone remember when the sports channel "the score" was called "headline sports" and it was just a ticker board? Literally that's all it was. (I know that's more of National thing, but still brought back memories of me flicking through the channels in the 90's...lol)

Soles Sports on Yonge across from the Eaton Centre. I remember buying my first Chuck Taylor All Stars in about 1982. When I stepped out a group of teenagers were starting an impromptu break-dance battle, until it got broken up by a couple cops. There was an older guy (probably my age now) telling the cops there is a lot worse happening on Yonge they should be looking at.

Yonge street has changed so much since that time. In the 80’s it was all head shops and sex shops.
