There doesn't have to be proof, it isn't a trial. If that's the standard you want, then the proof needs to be that he's the most worthy candidate out of the 350,0000,000 who aren't. Being a high Justice of the Supreme Court isn't something we assume anyone is up to, until someone proves they aren't.

The Dems and their supporters are beating a dead horse. Time for them to move on and falsely accuse someone else. Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed as the final vote now is a mere formality.

I watched both Susan Collins (kudos to her) and Lisa Murkowski speak and both of them know Kavanaugh personally (how many in the screaming mob can say that?) and both expressed high regard for him as a jurist and a human being as did almost all who know him post-Yale.

Question: Has the "Me too" movement lost its way and integrity?

It seems their motto now is: We don't need/want proof. Hang them all!

Great debate ongoing on CNN.

Democrat insiders and placing partial blame on Avenatti for his crazy client and placing the focus on him.

He in turn is calling the Dems cowards.

Getting more fun!

Avenatti lost all credibility with his "gang rape" accusation. That was simply unbelievable

This is a utter tragedy and it is largely the fault of Ted Kennedy who launched this age of the personal attack.

Before 1987 the consideration was entirely: is this person well qualified, rather than do I philosophically agree with them. Even after that when a Justice was confirmed they were confirmed, that was the end of the partisanship, there was none of what happened today with continuing protests and members of Congress saying well if my party takes control in January, we are going to launch an investigation (which destroys the U.S. Supreme Court).

Then Danmand and friends trash on the Canadian Monarchy! :frusty:

In fairness, the 1980's was an era of far less polarization than today. Back then, there was no suggestion that the evangelical right and its puppet politicians were going to stack the USSC with right wing judges to overturn Roe v Wade, which is 80% of the reaction to BK. By proposing and forcing through a very partisan judge over massive opposition, the GOP has done more than its share to polarize the process and degrade the court.

^ Indeed I consider Roe v. Wade and Griswold v. Connecticut to be entirely settled law. Then again since I do not have a crystal ball I can only look at how Justice Kavanaugh comported himself during his 12 years on the Court of Appeals and how he says he feels these cases should be viewed. I pay far less attention to the palavering of the President as to the type Justice he was going to nominate, and far more to the record of the person he in fact nominated.

Any of us can lie through our teeth. However, one would only hope that a member of the Bar, let alone a Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals has greater personal integrity than that.

What happened to Kavanaugh shows just how easy it is to be accused of sexual assault/misconduct/abuse.

Julie Swetnick - Where on this good Earth did they find her? Enough said.

Deborah Ramirez - No eyewitnesses and no other woman (or man) said Kavanaugh exposed himself to them.

Christine Blasey Ford - Probably the Dems best shot, but no evidence.

Confession: I admit I slightly lifted little Amber's skirt when we were both grade 4.

McConnell: Conservative revamp of the courts isn't done yet

Kavanaugh's ascension to the high court marks the 69th judicial confirmation of Donald Trump’s presidency under McConnell stewardship of the Senate. There are more than 30 lifetime District and Circuit court nominees ready for floor action in the Senate that McConnell could try to confirm before the election, though under Senate rules Democrats could delay them and would likely be able to narrow that list if the two parties try to strike a confirmation deal.

The Republicans should kick Sen Murkowski out of the party immediately. She's an abomination. If they don't the Alaskan voters will hang her in 2022.
Manchin I have to give credit to. He was basically screwed either way he voted. Vote no and he likely loses his seat to Morrissey. Vote yes and risk alienating many Un Democratic voters who may not show up at the polls. Damn politics is a blood sport.

Keeping my fingers crossed and taking some comfort from your thoughts on this.

Why. She is popular enough to win on a write in ballot. And instead of voting against she voted present ensuring that the missing Senator's did not affect the outcome.

She did not in any way screw over the vote. And she can still win.
