For those that miss the trivia thread..................

The expression "Tough titties" was originated by :

1) Australian working class in the 1800s.
2) The children of upper crust society of New York City in the 40s,50s & 60s.
3) The male aristocracy of Victorian England
4) Cockneys of London
5) Chicago gansters during prohibition.
I am guessing #2. NYC

Lynn Ha's lame attention-seeking threads.
Those bug the hell out of me. Not that I read them, but they are so transparent.

Fun thread: How depressed are you?

Long time internet forum user regardless of my registration date. I found this thread an interesting read, and hopefully I'm allowed to pipe up here.

May I suggest that we all learn a little bit more patience and tolerance?
I really think it comes down to this. Unfortunately the world seems to be lacking in this at times, and this corner of the world is not immune.

And what is the definition of "little interest"? Is it quantifiable? And how do we know how much interest there really is. I may not respond to a thread but I may still be interested in reading the discussion.
This is another really valid point. Perhaps it also applies to those who don't frequent the forum regularly at points, and might want to catch up on things they've missed.

My biggest issue with media today is that it is so fragmented it is tremendously easy to choose media outlets that serve only to confirm our biases. TERB combats that, and for this I am thankful.
This comment echoes what I've been feeling while viewing the available media sources. I'm really glad terb is around for those who rely on it, and there to allow the to be able to come back as needed.

Just make it a board policy ie.

We at TERB strive to provide interesting and fresh content to its members, repetitive content posted by the same members that garner little or no interest from the members will no longer be tolerated. We reserve the right to enforce this as we see fit.

Having regular threads that are mostly the same content posted makes no sense, what is the point?
Making this policy might actually create a negative backlash on other sections outside of the lounge. At its heart the board facilitates sharing of information, but many seem to view all posts rather than subjective view points and tailored ads. Posts in the lounge really can help you find out what someone is like when they relax into their true selves.

Besides the board is around 20 years old and repetition is going to be unavoidable.

Views are the food that feeds a website. Less views, less food for the website. The trivia thread once existed and it had a regular audience. It was killed off by two selfish shit disturbers and has cost this site thousands if not hundreds of thousands of views up to this point. To censor any persons post is to kill off views. If a thread is there just read the tittle to see if you have any interest.

Things have gone downhill on this site in the last two years, a McCarthyist move to censor threads will only cost this site views and drive viewers away.

I will tell you what I will do, I will put a little star next to the video threads so that you do not have to waste your time if you are not interested to look at them.
So when you consistently post threads that get little views, that is positive. There should be a separate section for spam type threads.

Good points, CC.

In order for this to be effective we'll need the mods to create some folders for you and CM and to add in some automatic view bot, so that the view count keeps climbing to keep you guys happy.

It is not so much the threads that are not liked. It is the posting of multiple threads at one time that send all the relavent lounge topics to the second page.

When there are 10 threads posted at one time with silly titles back to back - I see how it can be annoying. I think that is what set the OP off since it was just done a couple of days ago.

I said the same thing privately to myself, then engaged in threads I like to bump them back to page one.

OP a you think this is bad, try fight for ad position. Hahahaha.

Most notably ceiling cat and Canada man with his airplane threads. Can there not be a rule if a person habitually posts the same shit with very little interest they lose their thread starting privileges? The board to me is a place to read and get info on many topics. The board cloggers are annoying.
What about people that start Blue Jay threads when there's already a Blue Jay thread?

Take a pill, I'm just yanking your chain:very_drunk:

Yair i think we just live with it. Move on or open a different thread if it bores or offends. Slippery slope stuff here. Free speech. Lord only knows individual liberties is at the heart of boards like this.

I've thought of becoming terbs first Male gigilo. Isn't there rules for ad spamming or is it not enforced? Why can't there be rules for posting consistently uninteresting threads? Last question not directed at you.

CC can be the most uninteresting man on the planet, nemesis of the beer guy.

And yes it is that the threads that are not liked because nobody views them. Nobody starts a thread hoping to get 40 views, well almost nobody.

Free speech, really, this is a privately owned board, where do you get the free speech stuff from?

Might I suggest that Ceiling Cat and Canada Man move in together and share one and only one Terb account. That might tend to lessen their posts and increase competition between them to provide insightful posts. It is rather odd than neither of them share a sense of humour. GB

Who said anything about the trivia thread? I was just pointing out that Copy and Paste Man and Lynn Ha spamming the lounge with inane threads is irritating.

If it's any consolation, it seems like most of the board's members see through them and ignore them.

Actually, I think that they get more attention than they deserve. Her latest, asking if guys are always horny, has only one response. By her.

What about "insert name here" from the fish plant?
Phil at least gives us amazingly beautiful women to look at. Most of the fish plant girls have hard as cannonball tits and hard to look at faces.

Amazing how c-m gives 83.729% (approx.) of them 10/10. It is as if as long as they have 2 eyes and 4 limbs, it is impossible for any woman to look better. That is what a 10 means. But if you think about, he has been named as a prime thread clogger as well. Coincidence? :eyebrows:
