A footnote on John McCain|

A lifelong war hawk, McCain strongly advocated for military action in several countries, including; Iraq, Syria, Kosovo, North Korea, Afghanistan and Iran. McCain supported the Al-Qaeda-aligned Free Syrian Army, calling for arming them with heavy weapons in order to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

So incredibly sad when an 81 year old dies. Much rather live in diapers and drooling for another 10 years.

Very sad news indeed. He was one of the most respected politicians not only in the USA, but globally. A true patriotic person that went to the front lines to defend his nation and fellow soldiers.
He will be remembered as a person who stood up for the true American principles. He even adopted an orphan from Bangla Desh, and gave her a new lease of life in the USA, that is a melting pot of all cultures. May His Soul RIP. Canada will stand with his Family at this very sad time.

Dying of Brain cancer does suck. Not just for the person dying but for the family members that I have to watch.

I've no love of war, but sometimes it is necessary. If a person votes to take us into war, we can only hope that it is someone like John McCain, who understands truly and personally the horror of what he was asking.

I'm sure parents watching their 4 year olds die of cancer sucks too. He was 81 ffs and died, we don't get to choose how we die. Why is it so sad like most are saying.

Anyone that has been to an old person's funeral know it's not a sad event, often it ends suffering .

McCain served his country during the Vietnam War and was a Pow while Captain Bone Spurs got 5 deferments to save his lily white fat ass. May he RIP.

First of all he was a brave warrior in Vietnam. If you're in to that cudos to him. He had his brave moments in politics as well. Especially at the end against trump. His greatest mistake was not picking Lieberman to be his running mate. That would have made him a true maverick who out country ahead of politics. Instead he picks Sarah Palin which opened the door to all the other right wing lunatics to hijack the Republican party. Including Donald Trump. Not cool. Not brave. Not a maverick.

John McCain was not a chicken hawk. He was robbed of the Presidency in 2000 by special interests within the military industrial complex. It's possible that had he become POTUS in 2000, 9/11 may not have ever happened. The Bush family remain the bloodiest men to ever occupy the Oval Office. By the time of 2008 he had passed his "best by" date. A principled man, he made one big mistake and he looked tired vs the young and energetic Obama. Contrary to somewhat popular opinion, he didn't open up the GOP to right wing nut jobs, Bush Sr is responsible for that.

Trump will not be invited to his funeral, he doesn't deserve that particular spotlight.

He served his country in the military but became a neocon politician. He didn't stand a chance at becoming president because Americans don't elect those with military service to that office in the modern era. His choosing Sarah Palin for a running mate was one frightening example of his poor judgment and inability to be a leader. He was on the wrong side of history on even basic matters such as the celebration of an MLK holiday. Trump is a welcome end to Old style of politics that McCain embodied. May he rest in peace.

Unlike President Bone Spurs, he embodied integrity, leadership and a remarkable strength of character. And during the last 18 months of his life, he handled his inevitable death with true dignity and a deep appreciation of life, family and friendship.

We should all strive to be as good as he was.

Well said. I can tell you that with his integrity and dignity, John McCain would have never gotten into bed with Russia and North Korea and bowed in stance of weakness.

R.I.P. Mr. McCain

Very sad news. He was an honourable man and he always tried to do the right thing. I will miss him. He endured torture and captivity in Vietnam for 5 years that destroyed his body for the rest of his life ( he could not comb his own hair) while cadet bonespurs hid out and lived the pimp lifestyle.

The one thing that I will never forget is how during the presidential campaign with Obama when one confused old lady stood up and said that she didn't trust Obama because, "he was an Arab" , McCain corrected her and in front of all those people said that Obama was a good man and a family man and that he just had a different political vision for the country. He was gentle with her, but he corrected her none the less. Imagine if that had of been Cadet Bonespurs.

Apparently he has told Trump that he is not to attend his funeral, and has asked Obama and George w Bush to speak. A man of integrity till the end. He never agreed with Trumpism. It's really sad because now more than ever, the United States needs a man like John McCain. I doubt anyone else on the right will have the guts to take his place.

I was really saddened by the passing of Robin Leach, last week. A true American hero, taken from us too soon at a ripe age of 76- I thought that the guy was close to like a 100. Champagne wishes and caviar dreams, rip in that great mansion in the sky.
