LOL. Most of the people on this board are probably too young to get this. Good one.
Yeah, I'm scratching my head on this one. Plastic?

Justin Trudeau Says He Had To Explain Canada’s Refugee System To Doug Ford

He said it wasn't obvious the premier was aware of Canada's international obligations.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford (right) sits with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the Ontario Legislature, in Toronto on July 5, 2018.

OTTAWA— Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he spent some time explaining the nuances of Canada's refugee system to Ontario Premier Doug Ford during their first meeting.

Trudeau met with Ford at Queen's Park in Toronto for the first time since the Ontario election. Shortly before the meeting, the Ontario government blamed Ottawa for creating a "mess"of a housing crisis due to the influx of asylum seekers crossing into Canada.

"It didn't seem to me that the premier was quite as aware of our international obligations to the UN convention on refugees as he might have been," Trudeau told reporters in a frank moment. "So I spent a little time explaining how the asylum seeking system works and how our system is supposed to operate."

The prime minister said he "attempted" to reassure Ford that the immigration and refugee systems are separate, and that any migrants coming to Canada for purely economic reasons are sent home.

Canada will continue to ensure its immigration and refugee system is applied responsibly, Trudeau said, adding it's "important" for leaders to protect how Canadians generally view immigration "very positively."

'This is not a choice, this is the law'

During a meeting of the ad hoc intergovernmental task force on irregular migration in Ottawa Wednesday, Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen gave no indication that there was any bad blood between him and his Ontario counterparts.

Ontario's Children, Community and Social Services Minister Lisa MacLeod reportedly told the task force that the province would be pulling its co-operation in helping to resettle asylum seekers.

Hussen's spokesman Mathieu Genest told HuffPost that Canada has international obligations to uphold if someone comes arrives at the border, pleading for help and protection.

"It is our legal obligation to provide them with due process. This is not a choice, this is the law."

Canada is bound to the United Nations' 1951 convention relating to the status of refugees. It stipulates Canada must offer safe haven to anyone with a founded "fear of persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group, as well as those at risk of torture or cruel and unusual treatment or punishment."

Different levels of government may not always see eye-to-eye, but the people of Ontario benefit when they do, Genest said.

He explained federal and municipal officials have been in close contact to find solutions to Toronto's at-capacity situation with the city's intake of asylum seekers.

"We remain committed to supporting Toronto as they face pressures to their housing system. Minister Hussen has been in regular contact with Mayor Tory and we hope to see Ontario join these discussions."

As long as you are going to continue your c+p trolling can you at least get it in the right threads?

The best work advice I have ever had is that everyone is replaceable. Too many people get comfortable in their jobs and don't push themselves to be better.

On my wedding day, my sister told me there are 4 lines I need to learn for a successful marriage:
1. I’m sorry honey
2. It’s all my fault
3. Please forgive me
4. I’ll never do it again

I was never good with the last one, I’m divorced.

Expect the worst... Then you can only be pleasantly surprised.

Under promise, then overdeliver.

I joined a mma gym .... i had a million reasons why i shouldnt go. In the end i walked in and none of my fears occurred.

I think a lot of people miss out on things that could change their lives due to excuses and reasons not to try.

Directly above the center of the earth
This is a humble brag. Two things happened in the last couple of days that reiterated how on point Einstein was - Keep your mouth shut.
One event was that I was able to negotiate an hourly rate that was significantly higher than what the company wanted to pay me. I did not try to explain myself and why I thought I was worth the higher price.

The other event was that I stayed quiet while my wife chose me to be the person she vented on about stuff that was bothering her. She vented while we were in bed, and then the next morning she cuddled up to me, which is something she does not usually do.
In both cases there was some long and admittedly awkward silences, but I stuck my guns, and ended up better for it.

So be a wimp and it's all about her. Is marriage that appealing?

Money talks.

Everyone has a price, everyone can be brought.
+1.
Everyone has a price and it’s amazing how low it is sometimes.

As a joke on a casual aquaintence of mine, at a bar one night I offered to buy his self respect and dignity for $50 and he accepted.

After a week, he begged me to rip up the cocktail napkin we scribbled out the contract on.

I refused. Fair price.

I let him stew for a month then let him buy it back for $100. So I made money.

He said after his conscious decision to “sell” his dignity, (wasn’t even drunk) it brought him all kinds of bad luck and that’s why he wanted it back.

Evil or sharp? You decide.
