Trudeau corrects woman for using 'mankind' at town hall

There's a long multi-page thread where I discussed this with a number of links. Probably a good idea for you to read it.
This highlights his reputation,... people are going to believe he was just being himself,... a joke,... instead of the possibly that he was in fact joking..
No the link is set to the time of him seeming to make a joke regarding the use of mankind, nothing to do with immigration of jihadists.

If he was he certainly fooled not just a huge percentage of Canadians but many many people around the world.
I see parallels between how the right has responded to this, something I heard as a lame dad joke and nothing more, and how the left, myself included, responded to Trump’s shithole or shithouse comment, seeing it as further evidence of his racism, djangoism, xenophobia (or all 3).
We use these types of comments as evidence to help confirm our personal beliefs about people, particularly those comments that most offend our sensibilities.
I saw this did make international headlines... news on the right indicated outrage. News on the left tended to be reacting to the outrage. I was at an Olympic team fundraiser recently and the famous Cdn athlete keynote used “sportspeopleship” in her speech, with similar response. People smiling, clapping and laughing. How many took it seriously, I’m not sure, but contextually, it was a harmless joke on herself. Similar to Trudeau’s.
Regardless. I’d like to extend my personal apology for the terror some of you must have felt when you heard you might be losing another word. Or whatever the issue is.
