Business is a sport, and it should be treated like a sport; if you play the game then you accept the rules. If you cheat, then you should be punished and labeled as a cheater. However right now, we have people who are tripping over themselves to saintify such cheating.
I have absolutely no problem with large companies outsourcing jobs, if that pads their profit then part of that goes towards taxes and Canadian society benefits. But when companies evade taxes while cutting domestic jobs it creates a black hole that just vaccums money out of our economic universe and we lose the multiplier effect on economic activity.
I run my own small business, I hope one day it becomes a larger business and if my tax rate goes up then I accept it and I will pay according to the rules. I ask only that everyone else plays by the same rules, though even if it is unfair; I will still play the game of business but will I lose a large part of my motivation. Canada is a nice country, it needs tax dollars to stay nice. If you do business in other countries you might get shaken down by a local warlord or mafiaso, or worse yet the government turns communist and takes away all the wealth you and your family worked so hard to attain. My grand mother's side of the family was wealthy in her native country, the communists came and took everything, life for my grand mother and father was incredibly harsh after that.
If this trend of tax evasion continues, it will lead to something akin to the government having to nationalize privately owned things to stay solvent.
