what for? for shooting a piece of shit too many times. If I was on that street car with my daughter I would have buried that knife in that piece of shit's chest no problem.
Yes, that's why he was convicted.
you want the guy to serve life because he shot a dead guy? because that was the charge he was convicted on. the first three shots were legal. lethal force is lethal. you can't be mostly dead or more dead than that. charge is bullshit
I'll admit it was a strange case. I'd say he wasn't justified in shooting him in the first place. But either way, he deserved to be convicted.
Yatin was a waste of dna and noone will miss him
Its too bad Forcillo didn't just drop him with a single bullet
Sammy may have been a little shit, but he didn't deserve to die.
But what should we do with them then?
They will always be at best a general nuisance, at worst criminal element
Too much trying to save everyone
They really should cull the herd sometimes
For real?
Excuse me what?
He was certainly a danger to people look what he did on the street car
Many people (incl myself) are quite happy to see him dead
It really is amazing that some people think that way.
I agree.
But it was even simpler. They could have just locked him inside the street car and called his father like the kid had requested the driver do.
But no, some hot head cop who thinks he's Rambo decided to shoot the kid 9 times.
This cop Forcillo was a bad cop. He had pulled his gun 12 times in the last 3 years he was on the job. 12 times that they know about. Most cops in Toronto go their whole career and never pull their gun. Not this guy. He'd been watching too many cop movies.
True, they had other non-lethal options but Forcillo chose not to exercise them.
My friends on the TPS say no one ever wanted to be paired with the guy. He was a cowboy who wanted to work in the downtown divisions so that he would see more action. No police officer in their right mind wants more action as the odds are that one day that action results in the officer themselves being hurt or killed. There are other issues as well because there were several higher ranking officers on the scene who did not take charge of the situation other than the one who was moving up from the back with the Taser. They deferred too much to the primary officers who already had guns drawn (including Forcillo). The other systemic problem is that we don’t equip our officers with enough non lethal weaponry/tools and also the training is ALWAYS shoot to kill. There is no such thing as shooting to wound, officially.
Interesting you should mention that. I have several friends on the TPS as well. I asked one of them about Forcillo shortly after the shooting. I remember his reaction. His eyes widened and as he said "oh fuck, he's a nutcase." He also said said the same thing as your friends. Nobody wanted to be paired with the guy.
kids raised not to respect Police when they have guns on you and say "put the knife down" 20 times
The kid was high as fuck and had possible mental issues. Filling him with bullets was the wrong approach. That's why he was convicted.
