White redneck murdering a Black congregation. But so far, you're correct. No evidence of racist motives.
Nothing needs to be done. It was just a mentally deranged young man. Happens all the time. Keep calm and carry on.

Was he one of the Mexican rapists? or a muslim? or a recent immigrant?
It looks like those have been eliminated as options on how to explain this.

Obviously that only leaves Antifa or Clinton fanatic.

M-4 assault carbine with all the bells and whistles. Someone who knows more about modern military firearms can tell me if he has a telescopic site and a red lazer-dot siting aid?

No info on whether it was fired on full auto - or a facsimile with a bump stock.
They said at the news conference that it was a Ruger - maybe a Bush Master shooting .223 or Nato rounds. If that picture is his rifle then it's a red-dot sight - maybe 3 MOA meaning the red dot would cover a grouping of about 3 inches at 100 yards. No bump stock on the rifle in the picture. It's a semi-auto.

Interesting charts and graphs about gun violence.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/10/2/16399418/us-gun-violence-statistics-maps-charts

FYI, I'm a gun owner. I shoot about once or twice a week.
I like the Canadian system.
It is much tougher to get a firearm than in the US.

Regardless, I think it goes beyond just access to weapons. I think it has to do with how generally angry America is.
Anger plus the culture gun culture creates seems to be creating a unique problem for Americans.

If it's true that Devin Kelly was dishonourably discharged from the Air Force then he could not legally be in possession of a firearm. So if he had tried to purchase a weapon at a dealer, the mandatory background check would reveal that he can't buy a firearm. BUT, the gun show loophole would make it very easy for him to simply go to a show, and walk out with any number of weapons. I would bet that he acquired his weapons at a gun show, free from a background check, and once he had his rifles, nobody would ever check him out because you don't require a permit or license in Texas. The U.S. should ban secondary market gun sales except through a licensed gun dealer (therefore requiring background checks for every sale). Closing this loophole wouldn't totally eliminate the problem (since they could still acquire weapons illegally) but would at least make it harder than just going to the weekly gun show. Closing this loophole would have no effect on 2nd Amendment rights. It's a loophole that should never have existed.

The brain trust of Isis must just be pissing themselves silly laughing at US gun laws. Guy kills fifty eight in vegas a few weeks ago....now another twenty six in Texas. The Turkish guy mowed down eight in NYC. Thats ten times more casualties by Americans with guns vs Muslim dude. If I lived in the US, I would be way more scared about some domestic gun nut than a Muslim terror plot.

He beat his wife and kid and was sentenced to 12 months in the stockade and then dishonourably discharged. That should disqualify him from ownership under US law.

I would agree with background checks for all purchasers of firearms. I'd also mandate a firearms certification course. If we have to have licenses to drive then it's a no brainer we should have licenses to handle firearms
Right, so all a mass-murderer has to do is get his license, and then he can go on his killing spree??

Yup. Ideas, habits and impulses are contagious. 50 years ago, no one would think about killing strangers for no reason just because you're "angry, frustrated and bored". Now every loser asshole has a gun collection and a plan to be famous for a couple of days. Dicks like that think it's "bad boy" to carry a gun and kill innocent people.

It's going to get worse before it gets better. This is just the beginning. There are going to be more attacks every month as other losers take the bait and run with it.

That’s the problem, no?
Sure, everybody will put out a fine statement: Our prayers are with the victim and their families. bla bla bla" and noting will be done.

Sorry I offended you and made you so mad.

The photo of the pastor's dead daughter shows she is definitely Black. That's what I went on. If I was wrong and hurt you in some way, I deeply apologize on my knees. It wasn't meant personally.

You didnt offend me, I just hate it when people post stupid shit.

Maybe there was one or two black people attending that church, but going by these videos does it look like a "black congregation" to you?? (as you claimed)

I told you. I didn't see the videos. I saw a photo of the pastor's dead daughter who was black.

This has been news for about 3(?) hours and people - among them me - are still trying to figure out what happened.

If you look at my post, you will see that I specifically said that there was no evidence the guy was a racist.

Now are you going to keep coming on at me? Because if you do, I flag you for the mods and ask them to intervene.
