article today indicates Indians are interested and in touch with Bautista.

Maybe Jays should have left Shapiro in Cleveland and brought the group that is now running the Indians here!

Been saying the same thing also for some time.

Maybe they didn't win anything while there but they were all loyal "yes men" to Shapeero. That should be enough reason to reassemble them.
Yes men? Gibbons is the ultimate yes man. After he got fired the first time no other team would consider him as a major league manger until AA brought him back. The funny thing is he flew to Toronto thinking he was being interviewed for a coaches job. AA hands him the keys to the managers office. What has Gibbons ever won?

How many managers have taken their team to 2 consecutive ALC series ?

Then someone will say anyone coulda done that with those 2 stacked teams.

They said the same about Cito after winning 2 consectutive WSCs. Not anyone can do what these 2 did

As of today the Jays lineup would look like with JBats
2B Devon Travis
3B Josh Donaldson
RF Jose Bautista
DH Kendrys Morales
SS Troy Tulowitzki
C Russell Martin
1B Justin Smoak/Steve Pearce
LF Melvin Upton/Ezequiel Carrera
CF Kevin Pillar

The bottom third of the lineup looks pretty ugly, imho.

Every team will have holes. Just give me good D for the bottom three. Maybe get a good outfielder for left. I don't care about power. Just contact. The rest are fine. 1 base will be a hole this year.

Play JB at 1B and try Dalton Pompey out in RF.

Somewhere but not here.
With this line up

2B Devon Travis
3B Josh Donaldson
RF Jose Bautista
DH Kendrys Morales
SS Troy Tulowitzki / ????????
C Russell Martin / ?????????
1B Justin Smoak/Steve Pearce
LF Melvin Upton/Ezequiel Carrera
CF Kevin Pillar

You still need a Backup for C (Martin) and Infield. So not really room for Pompey or anyone else.
Infield would have to be Barney or Goins - no room for both.
Back up catcher - hope they find something more than they have in the org today - may be Navarro would come back cheap.

Of course if you find a sucker to take Smoak and/or Upton and/or Goins. But the the $$ you spent on Morales + Pearce + what you save (if any) on those 3 could cover most of what EE would have needed. EE gives you more flexibility since he can actually play the field whereas Morales will be an adventure at best out there. Too many DH/1B type players.

They will also need bullpen arms (can never have enough) but also some kind of starting pitching depth. Pretty good 1-5 but if anyone gets hurt they are screwed.

Pretty screwed up roster construciton but there's still a few weeks to spring training.

Thinking that Smoak and Upton may not make it out of spring training.

Bautista is signed and delivered. One year plus an option. I don't see any speed from the current lineup. They might have to call the Leafs for speed! LOL.

Again, this is the year that management is going to give Dalton Pompey an extended shot, unless he fucks up badly out of the gate. So speed there. Not sure if they will try and pick up another outfielder.
