The starting pitching has been not bad actually, except Estrada with his bad back. Most of the starters have pitched well, but the errors and the brain farts on D have contributed to more runs than the first 3/4 of the season. Then of course, when we are down by a run or two, Gibby brings in the B bullpen of Loup, Tepera, Schultz, Feldman, Barnes, etc. who inevitably give up another run or 3, and then the game gets out of hand for our struggling offence.
They are choking and playing way too tight. Evidenced by the unusually high errors and misplays. Their BA w RISP has been bad all season but now it's down right silly. Typically it's a disadvantage to the pitchers since they have to work out of the stretch and concern themselves with a base runner. On Sat the Angels allowed the lead off hitter on base like 7 innings and we managed to score 1 measly run. Awful.
They are way too tense, and should just play relaxed with instincts. They need to shake things up. Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is the clinical definition of insanity.
At least it's driving me insane!
