Were these staffers expecting to get paid? Look at his campaign staffers on this board. They argue that Trump is nothing but the best. They never made even a cent from it.
Setting up policy advisory teams and then ignoring them and instead running on "personality" appears a Trump hallmark. He set up a Hispanic issues advisory committee of well known Hispanic Republican supporters and then made no effort to interact with it or receive its suggestions. Essentially, it was just a PR move to get a mention in the media and nothing else. According to reports, most of the Hispanic team resigned in disappointment after Trump's controversial immigration policy speech of last week.

Yes, they clearly were - although the promises were vague. OTOH, Canada-man has probably never been paid by anyone for his incessant labour of cutting and pasting articles from right wing crazy websites and has no expectation of getting anything other than the pleasure of annoying other people from it.
His "controversial" immigration speech was only controversial to drama queens who don't want to hear about the impact of illegal immigration on a nation. sticking a finger in your ears is not a solution.

His speech was simply meaningless dribble sporadically laced with a few pieces of bigotry aimed and obviously swallowed whole by his followers. Unlike Clinton, Trump has actually benefited from every part of his various platforms. He was convicted of hiring illegal immigrants which he threaten to have deported if they complained about the work conditions and wages. He talks about exporting jobs yet he has his Trump trash made in Mexico and China. He complains about the status of the military yet he avoided the draft, mocked purple heart winners and slandered gold star parents. He talks about crooked Hillary yet made illegal donations and sponsored a fundraiser after a politician agreed to not pursue fraud charges against him. He's going to fix the economy but has run his companies into bankruptcies three times.
What is more amazing - that Trump, the least deserving most corrupt candidate is effectively throwing shit that he is standing knee deep in - or - the followers who are too blind to see that they are being played ?
What his dad was or wasn't in 1930 is irrelevant unless you think we should all be judged based on what our fathers did decades ago.
