WTF is Pokemon?

I was on the Loco Pokemon circle described above and met this heavy set gentleman teaching someone else. He told me that he never left the house for exercise but now with the Pokemon GO - he is out walking all the time. I haven't got far on instructions but I was invited to take over a gym since we were on the same team. The three of us made short work of the defender but as the gym went unclaimed - someone moved in before our team could. The three of us battled this opponent whom we discovered was a little boy sitting beside his mom who was reading a book. It was humorous watching this little guy taking us on.

On another note: its gonna b fun watching people walking around the city looking for pokemon when its -25 degrees in the wintertime.
How many cases of hypothermia due to pokemon in winter? Careful out there.

Yesterday they got rid of something called Pokevision which acted as a Pokemon locator. Many have quit as a result especially the group players. This app would show you relatively rare Pokemon nearby that have just spawned and how many minutes you have left to catch it. With this app this game was extremely fun. You would drive a car with bikes on it to a park that had 4-6 pokestops to collect pokeballs then the app would alert you to say a Wartortle thats 300 meters away. So the whole crew would jump on their bikes and rush to the spot to catch it. If it was say 800 meters we would get into the car to track it down. The CEO took it down resulting in many uninstalls and refunds... I haven't had this much fun in years and those greedy bastards just had to do this.

Get an Eevee and rename her Rainer. I was lucky to be in a location with a lot of them. Preferably in the 400+ range. Evolve her and she will turn into a Vaporean. Probably 1200 plus. Make sure she has the hydro pump and then evolve her to the maximum. I got mine to 1600 and she alone takes on 1500 CP and below 4 level gyms easy with only one player . She is very good and so quick. I won 86 battles with her.

Its a lot of fun when you are winning and taking down gyms. Just today I was in a busy place many 50 or so people around and kept taking down a gym only to have someone else take it 4 different times after making it turn grey only to see 3 more players show up to fight. It started as 4 level and 3 level each time. It was quite fun seeing the people pick up it was me and the 20 something year olds jumping off the bench saying ohhh he wants a fight only to be served 4 times all thanks to vaporeon. I just shrugged it off after 4th take down and gave them a nice smile after turning the gym red and continued with my casual stroll.

Each day I play this game gets more interesting due to people interactions.

BTW team Red Light FTW...I will keep taking the other colors down each time as I casually stroll through the park. Best is when you do it stealthy and no one suspects it was you as you look at them through your peripheral trying to figure out who it was. One advantage of doing this is it helps clear your bag when you use revive and potions thus assist to gather more pokeballs.

People are just mad because they are on low levels and some players have reached up to level 30 already and its only been a few weeks. I still like it and never relied on pokevision to catch them. I just have the phone open a lot and try to catch everything and now on level 21. I notice the new update is making the Pokémon a lot harder to catch which is good. Its crazy battling with players from level 25 and above...basically you stand no chance.

I think the developers are trying to slow it down.

Similar experience to the above. Over the weekend I saw an article on locating Pokemons including using the other game (can't remember) to aid in likely pokemon spots. There was also free Pokemon GPS maps (Realtime Poke Go) which provided the locations and duration of stay for Pokemon. I downloaded one an I saw an exotic Pokemon (I hadn't seen it before) was a few blocks away and it was only going to be there a little over 5 minutes.

I didn't do anything but I thought during my routine walks that I would use this just in case a worthy Pokemon is just off route. Over the last three days nothing has shown up on the map. Today I heard that Pokemon initiated software to prevent the maps from gathering their data. Apparently the software designer thought the maps were cheating. The paw prints for location of nearby Pokemon has been removed because the demand on their servers was just too great.

There is a different app that pokemon can't control that works similar to Ware in that it collects data submitted by users. I haven't researched the details.

See, I love architecture, I love living in the city, especially Toronto. I am an admirer of the art of engineering and architecture. When I walk down the street, the LAST thing I want to be looking at is a dumb phone (pun intended). When I'm walking down the street, I'm usually looking at the buildings, the houses especially. I notice the details of the construction, what people have done to their older houses - from the moldings, to the masonry work, to the iron work, to the glass. To me the guys who design and build buildings are artists. I am always watching and observing how things are built.
Its obvious that some people take the game too seriously, but that is the case with everything. My personal experience is that the game has motivated me from sitting in front of my computer to walking around the city again.
You mention architecture/art, the game incorporated the real world, and highlights things that I have walked by many times, but did not stop to look at.

For now, I see it is a really cool social phenomenon. I was at the Ferry Docks at the end of Bay Street a few weeks ago, and there were probably 2,000 people just hanging around playing the game.

In game purchases. It's taking in around $1.6 million per day, which is more than all other mobile games COMBINED. And that is with release only in the US, it hasn't launched yet in several key countries like Japan.

Whether it can keep this up is doubtful, people will likely play for aawhile and move on. But it will still likely rake in a couple billion dollars worldwide before it's done.
If they tap into the advertising revenues, it could make the lifespan double. Its an interesting game.

I'm amazed they have not rented Pokistops to commercial locations. One enterprising hot dog vendor is setup next to a Pokestop which has a lure set up during slow times of the day.

Me too. I dont think they expected this much success, but they need to strike while the iron is hot to maximize revenue.
