Ok, something`s just not right here...as someone from Kingston, who`s grown up with the Hip since the 80`s...The tickets for they`re final show went on sale today at 10 am for they`re final show at the K-Rock Center in Kingston. They were sold out within MINUTES!! Those of us who had to work at that time didn`t have a chance! These scum bag skelpers snap up these tickets, then resell them at wayyyy over inflated prices! Sorry, it`s just not right. I donno, I just think the final tickets should have been made available exclusively to Kingston residents first, as our way of wishing Gord all the best in his fight for his life!
To be fair, the way tickets go on sale is fair to everyone. Although some events have those early access credit card sales. But as a whole, tickets are simply a case of "you have to be the early bird to get the worm". Every event states tickets will go on sale on a certain day and time so everyone can prep for it.
Leaf tickets are no different. I haven't bought Leafs tix online for years, but when I did buy them, they'd also go on sale on a certain September day at 10 am. 41 home games, and I'd ballpark that after about 10-15 minutes all tix are gone. Even shitty standing room rail seats are gone. I wouldn't even bother wasting time checking for the good teams like Montreal or Boston. I'd just go for tier 2 teams because if I wasted time checking for Habs or Wings, I'd probably lose my chance buying tix for less popular teams.
The internet is the best thing to happen to ticket sellers. Because you have tons more people able to easily go after tickets. That's a key reason why ticket prices have skyrocketed over the years. Before the net, there's only so many people who would bother calling a CSR number or standing in line at a Ticketmaster kiosk at a Sunrise Records buying tickets. But I did that too. Get up early, and stand in line outside Sunrise Records at 9 am waiting for the store to open. And there were lots of other people doing the same. Early bird gets tix.
So with much greater demand and easier to access purchasing, it makes it so much harder. It's not like the arenas got any bigger. It's just now everyone can click Ticketmaster and buy tickets from their PC.
