I've always been of the mindset that penalty kicks should not decide a game. Play extra time until someone scores.

Get ready to cry when they meet Portugal.
Belgium was far more impressive than Portugal throughout the tournament. In any event, Wales have done infinitely more than was ever expected of them. If they lose against Portugal, it will still have been a triumph of a campaign.

If they beat Portugal, then they have a chance to pull off the biggest upset in sports history against France or Germany.

It certainly gets more intense to watch now than ever was at least to say there is no 0-0 ends. LOL

By the way, it was a great game to watch yesterday Italy vs Germany. It is not only how do you start, the most important thing is how can you finish.

Can not wait to watch today's game France vs Iceland at 3pm.

xoxoxo

With soccer, you would probably get 3 hour games and two teams too exhausted to move the ball and score.

Now that everything has evolved, they could take a page from hockey and go 10-10 then 9-9 then 8-8 etc... every 5-10 minutes till the larger lady sings!!! :bolt::sorry::closed_2:

Agreed. Could be Wales - Iceland though!

Allow more substitutions to compensate. Tired players also make mistakes and that leads to opportunities.

That wont work.

This topic has been discussed for many years over at FIFA and the only feasible way to decide tiebreakers is through penalties

Poor Iceland, France finally woke up. Its going to be a good game against Germany thursday, France may even win if they play like today.

For Vikings, it is about how well you fight. Iceland did well.

In the old days, substitution was only allowed for injured players. The tactical substitutions have IMHO devaluated the game.

That's a sad and pitiful thing to remark upon. Why would the world's most popular and beloved game ever take "a page from hockey" and downgrade itself?!?!

If anything, it should be the other way around.

I really don;t think that's fair. Again, you bring someobody in 2 minutes from the final whistle after two hours of watching a nailbitter from the sidelines and ask him to take penalties in an elimination game having not touched a ball all day. That's crazy.

Yeah I know taking a penalty shot is a mechanical skill which any pro should have plasticized enough to have one or two go-to shots that are on target 99.9 % of the time. But that's not how human beings work - if it were, then guys like Lebron James & Steph Curry would be able to make at least 100 consecutive free throws between misses instead of missing a fe in almost every game.

Substitutions are only good if a coach actualy uses them. This Euro has featured a lot of matches where the coaches failed to use even the available substitutions in tie to make a positive impact on the game. The use of the bench has been pretty terrible actually.

France v Germany should have been as good as the final. Very interesting game and hope there are going to be goals aplenty.
