Hi guys,

i am just wondering what's the cost of running an MP per month or per day.
How much money can be made from this industry?
I am looking to invest or partner with someone , just wanted some input on this matter.

Items to consider
-rental cost
-heating
-water
-power
-cost of receptionist

If anyone has a breakdown of how much it would cost to run and how much money can made per month , please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Agreed with Iris. Its better if u get a well connected business partner who will make it easier for u to deal with ppl who will come over for bribes

Not to mention "undercover cops" who will pretend to bust u for illegal massages. So u gotta bribe them too

I was wondering about this. You think this really happens???

Not really since its all on camera
10 people walk into massage room so reception owes you $40 x 10 = $400

If they short you, you cut it out of their pay

I believe start up licensing is upwards of 10 000. And the city issues a limited amount of them. There was a Toronto star article not too long ago about MPs.

Aren't only 25 body rub licenses approved for operation at any given time?

I could be mistaken about that, but I've always thought that was an issue for getting new ones up and running.

Or do you mean partnering with an existing spa? If so, taking a hard look at their books could help factor into your decision to invest.

Maybe if you contacted some spa owners to get their feedback (after establishing a rapport with them), they might be able to offer you valuable insight about all of this.

I would think most if not all of those 25 body rub spas would be incorporated and therefore if you buy the corporation you should the licence as well. There is also holistic spas which which seem to be numerous. On wonder if multiple locations in Toronto require separate licences ( ie Flirt , Premier etc). Some years there discussion that the licences in the burbs ( Brampton ) cost several (3) hundred thousand but I don't was true or whether it still applies.

The first question should be is why do you want to get into the massage parlour business?

Do you have experience in it? Do you think it is a wise and prudent investment?

Or are you just a horny whoremonger who thinks he wants to get in on the free pussy and working around hot girls?

Like a fat guy buying a restaurant or an alcoholic buying a bar, it doesn't work out so good.

It is a complex business with a lot of moving parts and moving targets with many employees who are notoriously unreliable and fickle. And it is unforgiving of any inattention. It will have to be your life 24/7 for it to be successful.

This is all quite true.

Let's not forget Municipal Licensing and Standards -- the folks that provide the body-rub licenses in the city and by-laws that would need to be enforced for the municipality.

Here's the Toronto by-laws you and your staff members (managers/receptionists/MPAs) have to familiarize yourself with: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/municode/1184_545.pdf (ARTICLE XXXI: Body-Rub Parlours)

If you skim through this document (Page 23 and 24), they provide a condensed breakdown of all violations that a by-law officer or LE can write a ticket for either the business/owner/operator or a "body rubber"/MPA as they see fit (http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/municode/1184_545_1.pdf).

With that said, you need to hire a lawyer ($2K-$5K/court appearance) that will oversee violations in order to have them overturned to keep your license as issue-free as possible up to your next yearly renewal (approx. $12K/year). Failure to do so may compromise your body-rub license, which the city will have no choice but to revoke.

SO......if your staff members are not on-board with the by-laws and the house rules you impose, it will result in quite an expensive situation down the road for everyone.

But FIRST he'd have to buy a license if he wanted to go the Licensed Body Rub Parlour route. And last time I heard, they were being sold for well over $300k and that is IF you could find someone selling.

The holistic spa thing is another route.

But it sounds like a typical horny guy with pu$$y in his dreams.

The MP business is tough. And you better be a good manager and strong leader to run it.

Variances are an inevitability of any business. Massage spas are not immune to them. Yes, they are cash businesses so it would be wise to hire managers/receptionists that have:
A) Past customer service skills (to entice more clients to visit via face-to-face client interactions or Internet advertising -- TERB, Twitter, Backpage, etc.)
B) Past cash management skills.

Internal theft is an unfortunate variance that puts the integrity of the receptionist/manager into question via surveillance tape review; however, there could be the over-payment scenario where an MPA (payout after session) or client (too much change) is given and caught on camera via aerial ceiling camera from the receptionist desk. Regardless, yes, the receptionist or manager would have to take the hit from their own pay to cover the business loss.
