Police say the two dead men were the intended target. The other injured parties are just collateral damage. Police asking for help from the public. Query: Why should the public help, isn't that the police's job?
Based on what you've commented on here, you're pretty dense and need to actually look up the Charter of Rights and think about how else the police could possibly legally gather information.

Bothering innocent people? How would you like that excuse from the police if you were the victim of a serious crime?

Imagine the police coming to you and saying they didn't go out to try and contact people living in the area to see if they were recording the incidents on their phone or had security cameras for their place. Then they tell you that they didn't want to bother asking people who were witnesses that didn't stay around because they had to pick up their kid from daycare or get home before the last train?

I bet you'd be the first to sue the police for an improper investigation.

I remember when a young girl went missing in my hood many years ago and police started canvassing and going door to door asking residents for any information. Nothing wrong that as we had nothing to hide.

Sarcasm, sir, sarcasm. There are some people (a.k.a. liberal lefties) who think we live in a police state and everything that the police do is a violation of people's rights.

I didn't live in that neighborhood but when they found Holly Jones' body, the police asked every male in her neighborhood to volunteerily donate their DNA. 3 men refused. That narrowed the suspect pool to 3 men.

One of the 3 was Michael Briere. The other 2 were liberal lefties.

Stats from year to year can go up and down for no reason.

We cant say that the only change is carding as crime is a mutli variable thing. Unless someone here is on the police force. Also there are many factors outside police control that we cant possibly know if they all remained the same.

We can't trust the police chief because he has to play the politics game. He has to give a reason even if it isn't true.

As for the standard stuff about how innocent people should accept carding and blacks should police themselves......they can get right on that when whites get on their pedophile and serial killer and white collar crime problem.

It's the warmer than normal temperature in January. More people out on the street. Since it is people who commit crime --- more people on the street equal more street crime. I still don't understand why anyone wanted 70 year old Alva Dixon dead.

You some one is a racist,...when,...

Someone needs their simple-minded, dumb, racist ass hand to them...Schlong!

-- If a person makes a completely none racial comment that a racist doesn't like,...he will call you a racist,...

-- If a person doesn't like how mathematics and statistics works‘,...he will call math and statistics racist,...

-- If a person doesn’t understand that pre-emptive action,...is better than burying innocent women,...he is a racist,...

-- If a person doesn't know the ACTUAL time line of the elimination of "carding",...but goes by what he read in a news paper,...he is an idiot,...

-- To summarise,…if a racist doesn’t like the truth, statistics, protecting the public,…and doesn’t have an intelligent response to same,…the racist will scream racism,…because that’s all they got.

Not really taking sides or anything, but technically, using ellipses to indicate a long pause or to trail off the end of a sentence, for example, "just...stop" isn't correct either. An ellipsis is meant to omit something from a body of text, usually a quotation, which will have little-to-no effect on the text's meaning. Technically, what you're referring to is "aposiopesis".

connect the dots. crime rates gone up after the TPS decided to stop carding
Interesting that you somehow know stats that haven't been released yet. We do know that there have been more shooting in the past month than a typical January. That's it.

p.s. The "summer of the gun' happened when there was carding.

I think you're confusing carding and canvassing. When the police canvas a neighborhood they are asking specific questions about a crime to people. They are not recording personal information about every person storing it in a database. At least this was the case when I had a police officer knock on my door late at night when they found someone shot in my neighborhood. As far as I know, you cannot request access or edit the information in said database even though it's your personal information.

The issue with carding that you are forgetting is that people are being stopped on the street and are asked for ID, personal information as well as a list of their friends too, which ends up in the database that you have no right to view or review.

What's with this liberal leftie crap? No one has said anything here about living in a police state. Feel free to go to your local police station and hand over all of your private information if that makes you feel safer. It puzzles me that some people are apparently so willing to give up their private information when people have fought and died for that basic human right.

Looks like I possibly screwed up twice.

On my 1st post you ranted a reply to,...I assumed when you stated,..."social science data",...I thought you were referring to race,...if you were not,...I was wrong.

2nd mistake, in your last post to me, I again assumed,...without reading,...that you were referring to my nailing shlongconnery.

But you have to realize that if you go ape shit about carding,...you inferring race,...don't like it,...but that's how it comes across.

I have been very pissed about people accusing me of being racist,...when that it so far from who I am.

Yes I am a WAS(p),...but If anybody had any clue how and were I grew up,...you would know,...not even close.

When I had work in the US,...got in a lot of trouble backing up blacks,...going to bars that were ALL black to listen to some great jazz.
Was always funny,...when I walked in, and still stayed when it was obvious that the bar was NOT mixed,...the waiters would always say,...you must be Canadian,...EH

So lighten up,...yes there are racists,...I AM NOT ONE !

Do NOT assume just because some one supports carding,...does NOT make them racist !
That has a habit becoming reversed.

Yup i remember one such study hat linked crime to temperature. Which goes to illustrate thst crime can be affected by many things and to suggest carding is the only difference and that the variance is significant is unreliable at best.

As for carding...... it is very easy to give up rights when they aren't your rights.

I am not black but i don't see why a innocent black person should be carded more frequently.
