I consider this season a success. Oagre made an excellent post and I would add Ben Revere to the list of great additions.

This team on the fielding hitting side minus Cola is intact for next year. That bodes well.

AA will get a contract and hopefully wheel and deal us a good starting core to compliment Stroman, probably either Osuna/Sanchez, Dickey.

As always the other teams will be doing the same but I think Rogers will up the budget. They see the gate and ratings and that's why they bought the team.

Damn, it was a great ride and I won't let the minutae ruin it today. And let the minutae be saved for the coming moves.

I'm left pondering on what could have been... and as fans, always wanting things to go our way, we question things when they don't:

  • Why did Gibby not make a concerted effort to secure home field advantage.
  • Why did he give Price such a long "rest".
  • Why did he not hook Dickey sooner.
  • Why was Moustakas ground rule double ruled a HR after fan interference?
  • Why did he go to Asuna prematurely.

But ultimately its the players on the field that came up short... and left far too many runners on base when they needed a hit...

Having said all that, it's like Oagre said, its been a helluva ride the last 3 months!
KC played a great series and outpitched us in games 1, 2 and 4 by a wide margin. Wade Davis' stand in the 9th last night was classic ass-against-the-wall great pitching.

A few years after the South lost the American Civil War, a Virginia senator went to call on Robert E. Lee and ask him about the Battle of Gettysburg. Since the battle was fought, the Southern press had been full of controversy and "reasons" why the Confederacy had lost its biggest battle.

The old general listened patiently to the senator's questions and then smiled and said: "Well suh, I think maybe the Northern army had a li'l somethin' to do with why we lost." Pretty sums it up.

I believe we get Cola back. He doesn't have enough years in MLB to be a free agent, IIRC.

Thank you Blue Jays!!!

While I would rather have seen a Blue Jays World Series win, in a way the frustrations and failures will make the eventual victory that much sweeter. It shows how difficult ii is to win a championship in Major League Baseball. As our Blue Jays had to deal with setbacks in '85, '87, '89 and '91 before their back-to-back wins in '92 and '93, it seems that this version of our Blue Jays won't be able to march to victory in their first post-season. It was a helluva ride, though. I'm looking forward to next year!

I think he was signed as such. I'm not sure the exact rules but I think he was signed as a free agent and picked up on a minor league contract.

He was 7 years in the independent league. I think at a certain point the rules don't apply. Like Japanese or Cuban players.

To be honest, that was the best 3 months of sports fan-dom I have had for decades. The team went from its normal mediocrity with the Price / Tulo trades and almost immediately became one of the elite teams in the AL. It chewed up the division-leading Yankees, humiliated them repeatedly and dethroned them. It fustigated the LA Angels to the point they took a couple of weeks to recover. It won the first division pennant in over two decades. It dropped its first 2 playoff games to Texas because it was too tight to play effectively and then won 3 in a row. And it might have come back against KC with a little luck. Not bad for a team which had done fuck all since 1993.

The team has a lot of cohesion and tons of personality. We got to know Colabello, who hit over .300 in his first season as a major leaguer. We got to know Pillar and Osuna. Josh Donaldson will almost certainly win AL MVP. Bautista proved himself a formidable clutch playoff star and one of the most obnoxious little fuckers who ever annoyed other teams and their fans. And Estrada, who was supposed to be an average middle reliever and ended up having the 5th best ERA in the AL.

Shame it had to end like this. But we went down fighting and on the heels of a 7-1 victory in our last home game.

More blah blah blah nonsense, first you were referring to the jays as we like you were the starting short stop, oh wait you said that should be goins, the guy who was pinch hit for in a critical situation. Now you are referring the the jays as 'it' like they are an object. You need to inflict a self imposed ban on you posting on anything baseball related, please.

Someone should have to answer for this loss and lose his job, I would say gibby, awesome guy but no baseball sense.

Overall, the Jays had a great season, the best we've seen in a generation. However, 29 of 30 teams end their season either with a loss, or not making the post-season. I suggest that you should enjoy looking back on a great season, rather than grumbling about the team not going all the way.

Silly post from start to finish.

Start with criticism for use of pronouns and somehow equating that to lack of baseball knowledge.

Finish off with inferring you have more BB sense than a guy who's spent his entire life in the game.

Listen, I apologize for calling this post silly. I should have said stupid.

Wazup is the Baseball Bandwagon Troll. He's found a hot topic that he can infect and annoy the other posters. I've already got him on ignore. He will add nothing useful to this topic.

We could have talked about the ALCS Game 7 today,if it weren't for that rain delay last night. I believe that the rain delay helped out the Royals more than the Jays. The Royals were in a dazed after the tying home run from Jbat. Jays had them on the rope right there! Nobody predicted that the Jays would gone this far this season. I am happy with the fun they brought to the city and even for the country. But, it still hurts that Dickey didn't bring his A game to game 4 of the series. Estrada and Dickey are probably not here for next season. Knowing AA I think he will find another type of Estrada in a discard bin somewhere for 3mil per next season. Instead of giving in to Estrada for more than 10mil per.
OFF THE BANDWAGON TILL NEXT SUMMER!!!!! LOL

I'll add why did he have Goins take the 1st pitch for a strike instead of lay down the bunt right away. Not being able to move runners or score them was our demise. We should be facing game 7. But at the end of the day we lost to a really really good team that is playoff tested. No shame in that. And I have high hopes for 2016.

Read this, I was fairly accurate on a lot of stuff, much more than you clowns anyway, lol. https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?537159-Blue-Jays-predictions

Gibby has been in the game his whole life too, hasn't served him well either.

Hey I just saw the line in the Star today and we are favoured to win tonight! It was a mystery to me why we were vegas favourites as the reasons we lost were evident, inability to win close games ...for many of the reasons thoroughly discussed here.

Not to pick on our mvp...but his swing on strike one in the ninth exemplified an issue...he took a home run swing when all we needed was a single.

It was great to see Jose Bautista play like a super star in his first post season..........and Marc 0000000 (pay him a great salary and sign him please) 138 days to opening day

Well said

I am not sad today I am happy for what happened- it was a lot of fun and while it would be great if we went further - just the energy they added to the city desperate for some joy was great

Now we should get laid and drink. Thanks blue jays

I say the Jays keep the same core for next season and buy some pitchers in the off season to shore up the bullpen. Wonder if any KC pitchers are free agents.

Well said. Really must have made Toronto a proud city. Sorry I didn't get a chance to see the team this year.

I think losing Cecil was huge in the KC series, as was of course the poor contributions made by Dickey and Price.

Many more positives to think about though.

Will be interesting to see what AA is able to do in the off-season to keep Estrada and possibly Price.

Davis has an $8mln option for next year which I assume KC exercises given their actual closer Holland will be coming back from surgery. Hochevar and Herera are signed....just their second tier guys Madson and Morales are free.

Great season. Game 5 against Texas and all those epic head to head battles with the Yanks were my highlights.

That said, very empty feeling now that it's over. The stars were aligned to win the WS, and next season there will be no Price, no Navarro, no Buehrle, and probably no Estrada and Lowe.

For what it's worth, I think we would've smoked the Mets and dined on fastballs all series long.
