Snippet below from Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports:

TORONTO – One of these days, when he's allowed to say what he really thinks – when David Price, someone with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, doesn't have to muzzle himself, as if showing a whit of self-preservation is some sort of a sin – he'll give a better sense of his feelings about the Toronto Blue Jays' treatment of him this postseason. For now, all he offers are clipped retorts, far from the general ebullience that is perhaps his most recognizable trait. Price sounds confused. He has every right to be that, and angry, too, at how the Blue Jays have turned their best pitcher into a dancing marionette.

Price left Rogers Centre on Wednesday night with giant tooth imprints on his tongue. In the aftermath of the Toronto Blue Jays' season-saving 7-1 victory against Kansas City in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, the focus should've been on Troy Tulowitzki's bases-clearing double and Marco Estrada neutering a Royals lineup that whacked 30 hits the previous two games and just about anything other than somebody getting up in the bullpen during the sixth inning.
As an adjunct to oagre's reply of this guy stirring the pot, I suspect Price's (alleged) terse responses are mainly due to the idiotic Toronto media who are constantly trying to create controversy and how he deals with them by giving them as little information as possible. The less he says and the more clichéd, the less opportunity they have to twist his words into something he didn't actually mean. He's too smart for them.

Could it be that Price will re-sign with JAYs for less than expected money, if they fire Mr. Gibbons? Price has millions of dollars on the line in game 6.

Also....riddle me this...we win games 6 and 7......Estrada starts game 1 on Tuesday, Price game 2, Stroman game 3....who starts game 4.......Mark Buerhle could be ideal if ready against the Mets

Buehrle has not pitched for about a month. Given how Gibby has the willies about using any but his top 3 starters and top 3 relievers, I doubt Buehrle will factor. Probably Dickey. But he may be even more questionable in November at Shea.

They all do that. They're just guys - albeit very well paid - who are trying to do their jobs and avoid being sucked into a shit storm when some scumbag sports reporter tries to boost his own profile by twisting the little things they say.

I thought we had an outside chance at retaining Price IF we won the WS and he was a star. But after they way he has pitched and how Gibby slighted him, the chances are pretty much zero.

I know. But it was in reference to the idiot blogger talking about Price's terse answers as if they were due to Gibbon's strategy. I feel it was due to having to answer reporters.

The Friday game might get rained out. Will they play a double header on Saturday or is that a no no in the playoffs?
They will play the Game Sat if they have to and if they need to play game 7 on Sunday. The World Series starts on Tuesday Oct 27. The Mets will be well rested but will be rusty.

Don't believe everything you read. Price appears happy and enthusiastic whenever you see shots of him in the dugout. They ALL keep saying that it's a great team chemistry and that they are there to help each other out.

Starters pitching out of the bullpen is common at crunch time in the playoffs. IIRC, MadBum pitched both relief and started in last year's WS and Schilling came out of the Pen in Game #7 of the ALCS in Boston's classic comeback from 3-0 down that ended the Yankee Dynasty.

It is painfully clear that Gibby has something against left-handers. Price to the pen. Buehrle not on playoff roster. Loup keeps disappearing in a mysterious way. Cecil with a phantom injury that you can't see occurring no matter how many times you watch the replay. Smoak relegated to a backup role. No left handed throwing outfielders. That's why he sits in the dugout. Guys who don't like lefthanders are notorious dugout sitters. It all makes sense now, if you just look at it logically.

Busterhut, no one on this board will listen to you, it is clear that you actually think Pennington is a pitcher, you must have jumped on the bandwagon on Monday.

I've seen that video 14 times and don't understand how an elite athlete could have hurt himself, especially since nobody touched him.

In term of business I think MLB might like to see a pairing of the Mets and the Jays in the WS. Don't you think? KC is a smaller market team than the Blue Jays, right? I strongly believe that the umpires in this series will 'massage' the game with the calls regardless of baseball talents. KC had put a seed in the ump mind already after game 5. Complaining missed calls and the ump actually apologized to them for the missed calls. If KC ended up with a 'homer' ump tonight, Jays are cooked. I thought the ump on game 5 was leaning to the home side a lot! Well, again what the hell do I know about baseball?
