And Loup wasn't with the team for game 4, and as far as I last heard, won't be there today either, due to family medical issue. I wonder if they had known that, they might have activated Buehrle instead of Tepera after Cecil went down? You know what though, aside from Loup and Price we LITERALLY have no other lefties in the pen.
Maybe putting Price out there wasnt such a bad idea, but perhaps he needs to be left there???
You tell me. Am I wrong??
Spoken like a mensch.About Gibby...
OK. OK.
Can't argue with success.
The unexplained continuing absence of Loup is pretty strange. I keep wondering if he isn't being held prisoner at some Tijuana brothel while AA's intern (who I imagine looking like the nerdy guy in Get Me to the Greek) tries to come up with $100,000 in cash to buy his freedom and get him back to the team. And Loup wasn't with the team for game 4, and as far as I last heard, won't be there today either, due to family medical issue. Are we watching a preview of the ALCS? :amen:
From what I've gathered it's a family illness. Probably out of privacy and respect they haven't released details. The unexplained continuing absence of Loup is pretty strange. None of the above opened a new stadium. San Diego started in the old San Diego Stadium. The Seattle Mariners started in the Kingdome, that was only a year old and used by the Seahawks. Tampa Bay started in Old Tropicana Stadium. Texas started as the Washington Senators in the ancient RFK Stadium. Milwaukee opened in the very old County Stadium. Houston started in the decrepit minor league quality Colt Stadium as the Houston Colt .45s. Colorado opened in Mile High Stadium, the Broncos' home and lastly, Montreal began life in 1969 in Jarry Park, a tiny ballpark that was refurbished for major league baseball where the beer was warm and the hot dogs cold.San Diego Padres
Seattle Mariners
Tampa Bay Rays
Texas Rangers
Milwaukee Brewers
Houston Astros
Colorado Rockies
Team formerly known as the Montreal Expos
I don't think I missed any franchises, but stand to be corrected.
Care to let us know in what years the above listed teams won the World Series?
In comparison to you, yes I'm sure I'm really young (46). However, I wasn't incorrect in what I said at all. I'm sure in your advanced years, you misread what I wrote and thought I said those teams had never won a World Series, when in fact I wrote that they had, just not in their current parks. Perhaps what you meant is the Cubs have the longest World Series drought of any team that has moved from their previous stadium to their current one? Because they certainly aren't the only ones.
I think the team management decides who gets a ring, it's not like an Olympic medal where the players get it and that's it. Wasn't there one of those string of Yankee teams in the 90's where Steinbrenner bought a ring for everyone who worked for the team?gcostanza,
I stand corrected. Carlos Delgado, according to Wikipedia, was awarded a World Series ring on the basis of his one at bat in 1993. He didn't even get a hit.
blue jays did the same thing in 92 and 93. I knew the equipment manager for the visitors locker room and he got one.I think the team management decides who gets a ring, it's not like an Olympic medal where the players get it and that's it. It is management discretion. The Red Sox ordered 500 rings after the 2004 World Series.I think the team management decides who gets a ring, it's not like an Olympic medal where the players get it and that's it. Does everybody get an equal share of the WS money as well?It is management discretion. The Red Sox ordered 500 rings after the 2004 World Series.
No. $ allocation has nothing to do with the rings.Does everybody get an equal share of the WS money as well?
William Wrigley, Jr. bought the Cubs just before the 1914 season. He completed construction of Wrigley Field that year and the the Cubs opened their sparkling new field in 1914. They are still in their "new" field and have not won a World Series in 101 years. The fact that i made a typo certainly validates your point.
I don't think anyone else considers WRIGLEY field a new stadium, yet you keep calling it that. No need to say anymore, you are as clear as mud already. I am still with the others who think you are not explaining yourself clearly at all. What more can I say?
All 10 playoff teams get a cut of the playoff "gate". Sliding scale from wild card losers up to World Series winners. The players vote on full and partial shares and basic cash awards.Does everybody get an equal share of the WS money as well?
Ok, that sounds fair. So, just because everybody gets a ring doesn't mean everybody gets the same amount of money. The players vote on full and partial shares and basic cash awards.
I think Fenway Park is the other ballpark that is 100 years old or older. I kind of like the charm of the older ballparks. Wrigley Field didn't even have lights until ............the Cubs opened their sparkling new field in 1914.
they last won the World Series in 1908.....make that 107 years ago.William Wrigley, Jr. bought the Cubs just before the 1914 season.
