Johnny Cueto 8.0 of 2-hit 2-run ball. KC in the bottom of the 8th up 7-2 with Kendrys Morales jacking a 3-run shot off Keuchel pitching in relief on short rest.

The view from Dallas. Hard to lose a game that way I'm sure.

TORONTO -- Three quick thoughts on the Rangers' 6-3 loss to the Jays in Game 5 of the ALDS:

1. An infield collapse to end all collapses: Going into the bottom of the seventh, Cole Hamels had a 3-2 lead which nearly caused a riot in the Rogers Centre. And the seventh started promisingly for the Rangers when Russell Martin grounded weakly up the middle. Elvis Andrus simply booted an easy ground ball. Then Hamels got a weak ground ball from Kevin Pillar to Mitch Moreland for a potential double play. Only Moreland bounced a throw to Elvis at second. Two on, not outs. Then Ryan Goins bunted to third, where the Rangers had on the wheel play. Adrian Beltre turned and threw to Elvis covering third . . . and he dropped the throw. Bases loaded. Then Ben Revere hit a little flare over Roogie Odor's head at second. Instead of breaking back immediately, Odor froze, then was too late. If you're scoring at home, that's a misplay in the inning by every infielder but Beltre, and two on the shortstop. It led to Hamels' exit. Two batters later, Jose Bautista hit a three-run homer for a 6-3 lead. That's what happens when you give a great team five outs. And that's where the Rangers' season ended. Miserably.

2. An all-time playoff moment: In the seventh, with Roogie Odor at third and two outs, the Jays' catcher, Russell Martin routinely threw the ball back to relief pitcher Aaron Sanchez. Only it never got there, and the go-ahead run scored. Martin's throw caromed off the bat of Choo, who was standing in the back of the box, his right arm extended, bat straight up and down. Odor alertly ran in as home plate umpire Dale Scott ruled a dead ball. But after Jeff Banister asked for a consultation, the umps ruled the ball was in play, citing 6.03(a)(3). Run counts. Toronto played the game under protest from that point, but what will become one of the most memorable oddball plays in history was in the books.

3. This is not how you want to be remembered: If the Rangers had simply lost a five-game series to Toronto, it still could have been chalked up as a great season. It was a great season, in fact, all things considering. But it will be obscured by its ending, just as it was in 2011. The Blue Jays are the most talented team in the league. Extending them to five games was a feat. But a defensive collapse such as the one in the seventh, allowing the Jays to take a three-run lead and chase starter Cole Hamels, was simply catastrophic. It's not as bad as Nelson Cruz failing to get to David Freese's fly ball on the warning track in Game 6, but only because of the circumstances. A World Series was riding on that play. This time, it was just the ALDS. But as gifts go, this one's unrivaled.

Will be interesting to see if they change the roster for the next round to address the leftie reliever situation.
If Loup is unavailable then maybe they drop him for Buehrle and his awesome pickoff move. ;)
Who else is there?

Man if we had Cecil i would say we are favorites to win it all. Now toss up with the Cubs.

KC just won. Cant wait till Fri 7pm!

and Dyson going haywire on Encarnacion was stupid.

I thought the Fox Sports Harold Baines explanation of the situation with Dyson and Encarnacion was unintentionally hilarious.
He says Dyson thinks that Encarnacion is asking for more praise and adulation from the fans before he steps into the batters' box when what he was really doing was trying to get the crowd calmed down.
There's a culture clash between Hispanic guys in MLB who play the game with a lot of emotion and passion and fire and the white small town guys from the US who think that the game should be played in a very stoic "right way".

Trying to figure out who the MVP of the series was, and it's hard to pick with so many players contributing.
I'll go with Pillar, solid at the plate and incredible as usual in the field. Great series for him.
Where are all the Pillar haters? LOL

Also I've noticed KC doesn't have any lefty starters, we'll probably be seeing more of Smoak and Pennington in this series.

when 2b odor backpedaled instead of turning to catch Donaldson's bloop.
I was really afraid the umps would call infield fly on that popup. In that case, Donaldson is out and Pillar doesn't score. Rangers would still be leading 3-2.

Let's not forget the 3 great defensive plays. one by Pillar and two by Goins.

Yeah until Bautista hits a grand slam instead of a 3 run home run.

So, both the Royals and Jays used their ace in to-day's game. It's a good thing the KC series also went 5 games.
Estrada may start game 1 followed by price then stro, gotta like our chances. Time to get world serious!

I would also like the suggest that Chief Saunders should give Joey Bats one of them police citations. He did after all prevent a probable riot not only at the Dome but on the streets of Toronto.
