You are basing your observation on just one post... my "issues" with him go back to many posts... just check back for the past 10 weeks or so and see how he responds to reasonable complaints about his stupidity, and not just from me!Huh??! Why do you get so upset over AK-47's posts??!![]()
And this is why you need a good ACE. They get shelled last night, and before Baltimore can get any momentum going, in comes price pitching a gemThis is flat out wrong. While a good offence will help you win your fair share of games, and make some of them look lopsided like last night, if you want to compete, you need an ACE. An ACE does two things for you:
1) When your offence goes through a dry spell, and you going into a losing streak, having an ACE on the bump still gives you a chance to break that losing streak if your offence continues to struggle.
2) As good as an offence we have, put them up against Clayton Kershaw and see what happens. My guess is they scratch out only 1 or 2 runs. It's crucial to have a guy like price who can go toe to toe with Kershaw in a big series, LIKE THE WORLD SERIES.
And who do the Jays have readily at hand to replace Price and Buehrle who both could very well be gone?Well that fucking hurt. The occasional beat down like this one last night may help them down the stretch. No one will lay down for them. Something they must always have on their minds.
As much as I like him, that may have been Hutchison's last start of the season and maybe as a Blue Jay. I would worry a bit that he may go elsewhere and blossom a la Chris Carpenter, but if the 2015 Jays are better for it in September then so be it. The Jays can trade him during the off season and at least get something for him.
I get the feeling that Buerle will not be returning. I think age is finally catching up with him. And the price tag would be too large either way.shack,
Don't write Price and Buehrle off yet. With the new president Shapiro, and Rogers Communications noting the increase in its live attendance and television audience, the resources may be there for resigning Mr Price and possibly Mr Buehrle. Let's just wait and see.
I wouldn't be surprised if Buehrle retires, he's already talked about it. As much as I'd love to see Price stay a Blue Jay he will be the most sought after pitcher in FA and no doubt the Yanks, Mets, and Dodgers will be offering contracts even the Jays can't match.shack,

Rogers has more money than those teams if they decide to make the offer. The problem is, they are a public corporation and Price or any pitcher commanding a large contract like that doesn't generate the revenue to cover the deal. Beancounters vs baseball people, and all that.I wouldn't be surprised if Buehrle retires, he's already talked about it. Don't forget Osuna. I know everyone is all happy with him a closer, and that's great this year, but the plan isn't for him to remain in the pen, just like sanchez.I get the feeling that Buerle will not be returning. I would rather the resources go to Estrada probably in the 10 million range and Price at whatever they can work out with him.
We will have Strolman, Sanchez, Hutch, possibly Dickey at 10 million option. Add in those two and we have a five man rotation and one in back up.
He appears to have the mental make up for it. And could have a very long career al a someone who used to pitch for the Yankees. We shall see in the off season.Don't forget Osuna. Its possible, but that they'd rather get 230 innings out of a pitcher than 70-80, so he will for sure get his look as starter at some point. He appears to have the mental make up for it. And could have a very long career al a someone who used to pitch for the Yankees. We shall see in the off season.
He's proven he can close so now let's experiment with him as a starter and they can easily pick up another good closer like all the others they've had in the last 20 years. Its possible, but that they'd rather get 230 innings out of a pitcher than 70-80, so he will for sure get his look as starter at some point.
It worked with Jaba Chamberlain. (Being sarcastic here.)He's proven he can close so now let's experiment with him as a starter.
Exactly. And if he fails as a starter it is not automatic that he can get back to being a good closer. Like Joba, switching back and forth can really fuck a pitcher up.It worked with Jaba Chamberlain. (Being sarcastic here.)
Also I believe I remember hearing Osuna himself say he might like to make a career out of being a closer, having a hand in more games.Exactly. Gotta love the TERB GM's. Always tweaking, trying to improve upon what already seems to work, especially with a closer that we have begged for for so long. By not having a dominant closer for so long the Jays have proven in the past how important a real closer is. Giving that up after one year is ludicrous.
