Story is over,...because you are OK with a team bringing sexism and religion into a sport,...

Thing is,...if it was the Catholics who did something similar to this,...the Story would NOT be over with you,...guaranteed.

FAST
Story is over because in CANADA we have FREEDOM OF RELIGION.. If you don't like it, go back to wherever you came from...

Freedom of religion means that people are allowed to practice their religion (and every aspect of it) and they can expect to not be persecuted because for it..

In this case, the boys believe (regardless of how fucked up it is) that touching other women is bad in the eyes of their particular voodoo God.. So they have the right to refuse to play against women.. They DON'T have the right to demand that the women not play, and that's not what they did.

Yes, the story is over..

No, nobody would give two fucking shits if a Catholic Team decided to do something similar this..

Get a grip buddy.

Wow... so you're good with Sharia Law being practiced in Canada?
I think it's YOU that needs to get a grip, buddy.

Although both sides would have preferred to play out the game, both got what they wanted from the impasse of conflicting rights.
"Both got what they wanted" except the two girls who lost their opportunity to play. I agree that reasonable people should be able to compromise, however, there are some principles that should never be compromised. Discrimination (whether against women, gays, green people, short people, etc.) is never acceptable or be the subject of "compromise".

Do I really REALLY need to say "as long as it doesn't conflict with our laws"?? What are you 12?

What you need to do is buy a dictionary... and learn what the word 'every' means.
If you don't mean something, don't say it.

You seem to have this misguided ideal that you are allowed to say whatever you want (to fit your point), and then when someone challenges you, you fire back with insults... sorry 'buddy'... not gonna happen.

I don't think you can cite Freedom of Religion to justify discrimination on another level.

Or, are Muslims terrified of girls? Long story short, the girls should never have been put in a position where they had to decide to play or "volunteer" to withdraw their right to play.
Again back to my original point
When was the last time you saw a white NHLer play against a female?

The top tier players (such as Canada/USA) could certainly hold their own against some of the 4th line garbage in the NHL

This is not a Muslim issue

They sacrificed their opportunity for the greater good, as far as any of the accounts in the media have said. If they insisted and demanded some sort of non-existant 'right' to be put on the field, their beef would be with their team and with their coach for sidelining them. IF the entire Catholic team had stood foursquare for gender rights above all, they would have had to suck it up and live with the forfeited game. Their team choice was to go on; just as the boys team choice was to forfeit.

One of the many good things that sports and sportsmanship (sportspersonship perhaps, for you 100% rights sticklers) are supposed to teach is putting your selfish preferences aside to play by the rules and for the overall good of the team. Teams compete, not individuals. The boys willingly accepted the rules that punished their error, the girls' team chose to play on and the girls accepted. No one was bullied no one was forced, everyone got the best version available of what they were after.

You—and no one with similar opinions—still haven't said what would have been a better solution; please do. Otherwise you owe us an edit, where you include religion, race and few others on your list of stuff we should never discriminate against, or compromise on. BTW do you really mean amusement rides should be regulated by the HRC for discriminating against short people? Or that condoms only men can use should be as HST as tampons?

If someone persuaded you life would be a simple black or white thing with no need to discriminate greys, they lied.

The better solution would be everybody follow the rules.
Which the boys team did. So did the girls team. End of story.

Unless you have some other point you'd like to outline.

Exactly,...which the religious team refused to do,...end of that story.

Problem is,...some here want to create another,...false,...story to cover up the only true one.

I agree you are nobody,...but you would have raised hell if it did happen with any other religious team.

Canada also has the FREEDOM FROM RELIGION,...but I guess it only applies to SOME religions.

... So because you have no argument you're going to assume something ridiculous so you can argue THAT instead?? Brilliant work... *slow clap

Your "Freedom FROM Religion" argument is so stupid it's hysterical... At what point were they insisting that OTHERS follow their religious beliefs?? Was it when they offered to forfeit because of their own personal beliefs? Or was it when the girls decided to "TOFTT" so that their team could advance in the tournament with the required points?

... I thought it went without saying. Obviously I need to lower my expectations of the Islamaphobes on this board.
Nothing to do with any kind of phobia.
If you don't mean something, don't say it... is that too hard a concept for you to grasp?

Your story is totally false. Quote the rule you claim was broken.

The rules say show up or forfeit; the boys religious team took the forfeit as the rules said. The girls religious team wanted them to play out the game and benched the girls so they would. The game was played. The girls religious team got their points, the boys religious team kept their 'purity'. No one broke any rules.

No one has yet said how the situation could have been handled better.
