With Redmond pitching that wasn't a game we were supposed to win. It's the bats that did it of course, especially the top of the line-up.

Unsurprisingly the Jays are much better at home.

Yup, Redmond is a 4-inning pitcher, which makes him a long reliever at best

Gibby has to go soon. Pete Walker can follow him. Each and every day it looks like Gibby's style is to let the inmates run the asylum. Works great when you have strong leadership in place, but I don't think that is Bautista. AA bringing in Donaldson and Martin helps, especially when you subtract Lawrie and Rasmus from that equation.

Anyone else notice Encarnacio hits plenty of homeruns when bases are empty, but when it counts, and guys are on base, he can't do shit

RAD: 1-5; ERA = 5.76; 9 HR allowed.

2 or 3 Edwin homers down the road, these comments will evaporate.

They will reappear any time they lose a game, along with comments about the starters, the bullpen, Gibby, AA, Pete Walker, the training staff because of any injuries, lack of leadership, lack of commitment by ownership, lack of timely hitting, the turf, lack of atmosphere at the dome etc., etc., etc.

And yet they are still only 4.5 out of first. What does that say about the rest of the division? They must be in the same ballpark as the Jays in terms of ineptitude.

I don't usually make predictions, but I will venture that by this time in July our Jays will be 10-12 games behind and out of contention.

Let's see how this homestand works out as their current losing record is a bit skewed by playing so many more games away and most recently against a red hot team.

Well some of us aren't willing to accept mediocrity, year after year after year, apparently you are!

Well, there is scapegoating and then there is trying to figure out a genuine solution. The Jays have the best offence in the AL, despite the fact that Reyes and Navarro are out and JB is not 100%. Despite this, they often struggle to get timely productive hits. But this is a facet of baseball. Last night, I watched the mighty Tigers hit into an rally-killing dp / strikeout combo. All teams do it.

The problem w the Jays is really pitching. It sucks. It's awful. The starters often suck. The bullpen usually sucks. What can AA do about that, if anything? Are there glimmers of hope from within the team?

Fire Gibby? Sure. But then what? Does that magically make RAD a Cy Young pitcher like he was 4 years ago? Does that magically give Sanchez maturity and consistency? Does that magically wave a magic wand and give us 8 Cy Young quality rookies down in Buffalo?

Agree pitching the biggest problem and that was a question mark at the end of last season It did not get addressed and is actually worse. Somebody is responsible and it isn't the fans!

Here
Well, two things seems to be beyond dispute: (a) the players don't perform for AA and Gibbons, (b) whatever the problems are, AA and Gibbons don't have answers for them.

And that has been going on for some time...

Well, the Happ for Saunders deal looks dreadful. And maybe they should have thrown $$$$ at Morrow and hoped he didn't DL for an entire season as usual. What else?

OTOH, the Donaldson for Lawrie deal was genius and Martin is a keeper. But this again is offence and position defence.

Problem is good, consistent pitchers dont exactly grow on trees.

Its very hard to find quality pitchers

What I'm not willing to accept are the armchair critics who see the end result and say, "I knew Gibby shouldn't have put in that pitcher at that time" or "he should have pinch hit for so and so" or as if they know all the workings of major league trading.

They only comment after the fact. I tried asking a couple of guys 3 times if they thought making Castro the closer was going to work or not. They refused to answer. The chickenshits will only comment once they know what happened.
