Damn, didn't know Donaldson was this good. This guy is an MVP level talent.

They all said Travis could hit but what he's done thus far is amazing. His ability to go the other way is very impressive.

Gibbons has got the touch right now when it comes to his scrubs. Every time he puts Pillar, Valencia or Goins in there they get it done.

I didn't know Donaldson was that good either. He's an absolute stud and hitting at the Rogers Centre he might get 40 homers this year.

What was Oakland thinking? Brett Lawrie is continuing his clown routine over there getting in fights with hard slides, striking out 4 times on 12 pitches. Yes, that actually happened.

Showalter continuing to whine, now about the Astroturf. While I don't think it's the greatest thing ever and will be glad when they change it to natural grass, I also don't like whiny you-know-whats trying to duck blame for their failures. As far as I can tell it plays the same for both teams, and didn't influence any of the massive home runs we hit off their pitching.

I didn't know what they were thinking when the trade was announced, and I don't know now. Good riddance. Unless Graveman and (um, forget the other guy's name) turn out to be huge for the A's organization, I think AA outsmarted BB on this one. From what little I know of BL I'm glad he's gone. Really annoys me to see all the hotties with big boobies still wearing #13 jerseys at games, but that's my own issue that I'll have to deal with.

As I stated in an earlier post, Donaldson was butting heads with too many management types in Oakland hence forth they got rid of him.

What a shame for us.

Actually, it's not the first time that a trade was made because of animosity/personal issues. That is why we never know all the details behind transactions when we try to pretend we know more than the GM's.

Again having trouble with Tampa Bay, why do we struggle so much against these guys?

Possibly had something to do w Dickey giving up 8 runs in less than 5 innings?

Misc Stuff:

The Jays should recruit Jim Hickey, the pitching coach for Tampa the last nine years. He's developed a lot of great pitchers over the years. Just one after another, it never ends.
----
It's funny how the Jays can handle Baltimore, Baltimore knows how to beat the Rays, and the Rays have got the Jays wrapped around their baby finger for so long.
Rock, paper, scissors.
-----
If the jays are in the picture late August they might be able to benefit from getting Marcus Stroman back for the last month.
Pitching is such an area of concern because while the Jays are first in MLB for total runs scored, they are also within a hair of being in first place for total runs allowed.
Team almost has a Jeckyll and Hyde personality.
----
Also, on the prospect front, Jeff hoffman is supposed to be throwing dirty, filthy stuff in simulated games in extended spring training down in Dunedin and is expected to appear in games next month. Possibly for Dunedin Blue Jays.
If Hoffman does well he might join Jays starting rotation in August. You never know, - he could make it quickly into MLB the way Chris Sale did.

Poor old Steve Tolleson gets DFA' d after one of the worst individual games in Blue Jays history.

Involved in a couple of major gaffes in the outfield. Kind of like the Anti Ichiro Suzuki. He might elect for free agency rather than shuffle off to Buffalo.
Good luck to him if that was his last mlb game ever because he was a good guy in a tough role being a utility infielder.

Alright, top of fourth 2-0 Jays .... it went down hill from there on the express elevator.

It's consistent w Dickey's pattern. When he loses it, it goes immediately and totally and he becomes a batting practice pitcher. Again, I didn't get to see the game. So I don't know to what extent Tolleson's fielding miscues and the ump's strike zone had to do with the demise.

The issues we have w TB have to do with our early season hitting not being able to cope w Odorizzi and Archer. JB, EE and Martin have not found their stroke yet and that writes off 50% of our potential offence.

Here
I always like to see the first 20 or so games before forming an opinion on the BJ's...

This team is a totally new team from what it has been the past 2 or 3 years. There are 15 players now on the active roster that were not on the active roster 1 year ago.

Totally new up the middle, where winners are usually made and lost. Martin is a big upgrade from Navarro. Pompey at least is not a rally killer strikeout artist like Rasmus was and is at least as good, probably better, on the field. And what can you say about Travis that is not wrapped in super superlatives?

On the left side, Donaldson is a huge improvement over that other inconsistent, strikeout artist, Lawrie. And we shall see how Saunders rates against Melky... I assume better defense but not as good hitting for average but more power.

Smoak seems more versatile and with much greater potential than hot-and-cold Lind. As much as I like Gose's speed he just could not hit here and Pillar is a vast improvement for fourth outfielder.

Buehrle, Dickey, Hutch, Cecil and Loup are the only pitchers from last year's regular roster. Norris, Osuna, Castro, Hendricks, Francis and Estrada seem like good upgrades over Happ, Morrow, Delabar, Rogers and Redmond... but pitching is still an unknown quality. I am intrigued by Castro and Osuna. Surely Sanchez will deliver, too!

Overall, a much better balanced team with fewer weak spots. And the attitude and body language seems much more positive and professional. But like all BJ teams over the past many years, still under performing and not firing on all cylinders.

To me, management and coaching are still the main weakness though I think Jacoby is a much better hitting coach.

If they can develop consistency, I think they will win the East but I also think the Red Sox may become a power.

Lets see where they are at the end of May! :eyebrows:

Nice, rational analysis.

No hyperbole.

Romero is kind of a sad story. Kid from the ghetto, makes it big..looks like a solid starter for years to come...and then cant get people out and cant win. Hope he managed his money well and does well in another life.
