Was he ever arrested and put on trial? Sort of hard to have a trial for a guy who wasn't in custody.

I seem to recall he declared war on the U.S. on multiple occasions. One of the downside of declaring war on somebody is one might get killed.
They did - though the tapes shown on tv were in Arabic so I have no idea if that's what they were actually saying
I'm not defending them, I'm just stating that there was never a trial or full public evidence.
I would fully suspect it was a Saudi backed plan using Al Qaeda, judging by the information we have right now.
But really, there hasn't been much in the way of publicized reporting on the evidence.
And that is the master argument against 9/11 being a US plot. Do you really think that guy could have anything to do with something so complex and be able to keep it secret?

A friend of mine (born here) who has Mexican heritage told me of a story of who werew apparently Mossad agents who were in Mexico in October of 2001, caught with guns, grenades, etc.
It was reported and there was speculation this was a way to involve Mexico in the "war on terror". I just looked it up and it's quite interesting that none of this was reported in the "mainstream media" (CORPORATE America that is).
