I dont understand 7PM start time tonight in Baltimore. They shouldve scheduled it for a 1PM start time, it'll be much warmer then
Forecast is 14 degrees at 1pm. 13 degrees at 7 pm.

Baltimore is not Toronto but thank you for your contribution.

Yeah, but guys like me are busy doing stuff outside at 1:00PM because it is warmer and brighter than at 7:00PM instead of staying home to watch a baseball game at 1:00PM.

BTW: I asked the Blue Jays why they play all weekend games in the afternoon rather than in the evening? They said the kids who attend afternoon games are all in bed at 7:00PM and the players want to spend the evening with their families instead of entertaining a few thousand fans who pay their multi-million dollar salaries.

Baloney. Its 16 Celsius right now, it'll stay like that till late afternoon, and after 7PM it'll go down to 13 to 11 Celsius.

Wait till you are 20 years older and have a mortgage and a family. Enjoy your youthhood while you can before one of the skirts "domesticate" you. When I was younger, we use to go to sports bars and watch the game and drink beer and chase skirts.

BTW: The first home game is on Monday. How do you guys plan to get to the game? There is terrible construction everywhere. The subway is always shutting down due to power failures. Walk?

Its not just the temperature though, ballgames are more fun to watch in the Sun.
Especially on saturdays or sundays.

Anywho, I hope Sanchez throws a gem
They need him. He needs to come close to Stroman's expected output.

Another thing re: scheduling. There are probably dozens of factors, many of which we have no info or even know they exist. For example tonight's game may be influenced by contractual obligations for TV.

As well, they know their market better than we do and they obviously are trying to maximize attendance/revenue. I think we need to give them some credit for knowing how to run their own business. I do agree, that warm and sunny is always nice. Sometimes, though, it is not the overriding factor.

Is there any chance Stroman could come back late Septembre, or even early October SHOULD the Jays make it that far??

Yes I realize he wouldnt have any spring training and his arm would be rusty, but I still want to know

Even if there was, it is not worth the risk to Stroman's future.

You're not risking Stroman's future by pitching a few September or October innings

If the Jays are carrying 3 pitchers to mop up that bullpen will be overworked well before the all star break. Redmond is there for long relief, so that in effect makes 4. After his last performance I am not sure I want to see Loup in a tight game, or at least until he shows he can get someone out. That leaves you with a 3 man bullpen, 2 of which are rookies, now that is worrisome!
So what should Jays do, trade for a quality closer??

Please note the first word of my post is if. I hope the Jays believe these guys are more than mop up pitchers or your post Saying the Jays will finish last will be accurate. At this point it looks like the two rookies and perhaps Cecil can close, but they will need help from the rest of the bullpen or they will burn out. None of them were overly impressive yesterday and you have to hope that will change. Trading for a closer really isn't an option as their isn't anyone worthwhile available and if their was the price would be a young arm.
To date the bullpen looks like the Jays Achilles heel. The rookies have been awesome and Cecil has had a good and a bad outing. The rest of the bullpen is still a question mark.

Well we disagree on that.
I think it would be an unnecessary risk to take after he sat the whole season.

So bottom line, we have no closer (other then Castro, who's very unproven).

Great, just great

Jays struggling tonight a 3 - 0 in the fifth. Sanchez only does 3.1 innings but Hynes does a great job in the fourth to end the innings.

Still chances to win the game but not many innings to turn things round.

You know what, better to lose a 7-0 than a close 3-2 game

What is your opinion on Gibby putting Cecil back as the setup man and Castro as the closer.

Also Gibby made brilliant move putting Pompey #2 in the order. Two doubles and some early RBI's set the tone. He gave Martin the day off and Navarro got 2 more early RBI's.

Credit for this win has to go to the manager.
Poor call by Showalter putting in O'Day vs. Bautista seeing as Jose had 4 hits, of which 3 were homers vs. him. Now it is 5 hits and 4 homers. And Pompey did well hitting 2nd again.

If not credit for the win, Gibbons outcoached Showalter in the only game of the series where the managers were a factor.

I noticed neither IV or KT gave their opinion on the question I asked.

I'd like to hear their opinion. It's not fair to just cherry pick your criticisms after the fact. The verdict is still out on Castro. Do you agree with the move?
