Bibi looks to be forming a record 4th colalition as PM of Israel. His late campaign position of not allowing a two state solution would seem to make peace efforts irrelevant.

I don't see any path to the future other than a two state solution.

The poisonous relationship between the Obama Administration and the Government of Israel certainly hasn't helped matters.

Just to be clear, the U.S. isn't the second state, it the Palestinians... Not sure why the POTUS has anything to do with this.

I'm surprised our Israeli lobby here, which has argued tirelessly that Istrael really wanted an two state solution, if they only had a negotiating partner....

The two state solution is not dead. It's just off the table-regardless of what he says. Right now, there's no appetite for negotiations and the Gaza rockets are directly responsible for that. The Middle East is on fire and Iran's on the brink of building a nuclear device, Bibi's just the guy with the heaviest hand.

Where is the negotiating partner? Did I miss some announcement where Hamas agreed to recognize two states? Did Hamas lose control of Gaza, or disarm?

I believe Israelis would vote for another Olmert if they thought he had someone to talk to. So long as the other side insists on war and unilateral action I guess they are going to keep sending a tough guy into the ring.

The Obama administration's misguided efforts to try to influence the election have yet again proven that Obama has no clout on the international stage.

Despite bibi's party winning the most seats, there was a strong showing from the center and left. Liberman's party and the shit for brain Bennett both lost seats and sway and a primarily Arab party sits with the 3rd most seats. Considering Israel is far from a two party system there is still talk of Herzog leading a coalition government.

As for the possibility of peace under either, Herzog would be more likely to pursue a deal but without change from the Palestinians, it won't matter. Hamas and Fatah are back to fighting and Hamas is still 100% opposed to any kind of permanent peace. They were recently bragging about rejecting a deal to end the blockade and build a Gaza airport and sea port.

The Palestinians have never been interested in a 2 state solution let's be honest. If they were this conflict would have long been over.

Bibi knows that, he's a strong statesman but his lack of focus on other domestic issues almost cost him power. I think that's where he is going to focus more of his attention now.

I've been saying for a long time that the Palistinians should pursue a one state solution and start having babies.... Now it seems the next PM supports that.

Unfortunately they don't want that either, at least one that includes equal rights for all. Polling routinely shows around 80% opposition to the idea. Palestinians want their own state. Some want one beside Israel but a large number want one instead of Israel and without a noticeable Jewish population.

I would say that an ideal world would be one based on respect and democratic values but based on the actions of either Palestinian government (or a great many around the world) it doesn't look in the cards in the near future.

Are there other Palistinian government around the world?

I think a single federation would be much better in the long run. Like I said all along, there are elements in Israel (Likud being one) that have ZERO interest in peace.

In case you missed on the many previous occasions in which you have made such statements a single state including the West Bank and Gaza will NEVER happen. The only people who keep floating this idea, at least for the most part, are those who hope to do demographically what they could not due militarily or politically. It will NEVER happen.

The fact of the matter is that Bibi is paranoid about the security of Israel and his paranoia is fed by the statements which are continually made by Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and to a lesser extent Abbas. Unless there comes a time when Bibi or a successor and the people of Israel believe they have a partner for peace including whoever is ruling Gaza and Abbas or his successor shows a willingness to compromise there will be no meaningful peace talks and no two state solution. Notwithstanding that i do believe that there will one day be a sovereign Palestinian state living side by side Israel.

So long as the Palestinian goal is to ethnically cleanse all the Jews, Likud is right not to make peace.

So pathetic word games instead of addressing that the Palestinians overwhelmingly reject your preference?
Your words, don't blame me if they are idiotic.

Yes, my preference is in the minority among both Palistinians and Isralies.... It also seems to be the new PMs stated policy.

In other news, will The One break with Isreal and stop providing a veto to the UNSC....

http://foreignpolicy.com/2015/03/18/from-tel-aviv-to-turtle-bay-israel-palestinians-un-resolution/

After years of blocking U.N. efforts to pressure Israelis and Palestinians into accepting a lasting two-state solution, the United States is edging closer toward supporting a U.N. Security Council resolution that would call for the resumption of political talks to conclude a final peace settlement, according to Western diplomats.

The move follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decisive re-election Tuesday after the incumbent publicly abandoned his commitment to negotiate a Palestinian state — the basis of more than 20 years of U.S. diplomatic efforts — and promised to continue the construction of settlements on occupied territory. The development also reflects deepening pessimism over the prospect of U.S.-brokered negotiations delivering peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

And you don't care that the Palestinians are strongly opposed to it.

p.s. Netanyahu in today's news
"I don't want a one-state solution. I want a sustainable, peaceful two-state solution,"
http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/19/politics/netanyahu-palestinian-two-state-solution/index.html

Despite bibi winning the most seats, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th placed parties fully support 2 states.

That is Hamas goal, Israel put them there to be a boogie man. Israel has not offered any vision of what peace may look like either. Hamas may talk ethnic cleansing, Israel is doing it.

Are you losing your mind? We already discussed this and NO I don't give a shit what they want. According to you they want Israel gone, you support that as well? Why is that a flip flop. Netanyahu said there will be no Pali state during his administration. Saying he supports one is not a flip flop.
