Good catch Wilbur, I am not familiar with the AK-47 look alikes, but I know a AK-47 when I see it.

While externally the vz. 58 resembles the Soviet AK-47, it is a different design based on a short-stroke gas piston. It shares no parts with Kalashnikov rifles, including the magazine.[2]

It is clear that ceiling cat is retarded. Trying to pass off wiki info or shit you pick off at google as your actual answers is getting old and most people could see through it by now.

Tough titties, if you do not like it. A Cackler will tell you that even presenting facts will not satisfy them. Cacklers argue to argue.

There is always a after-Cackler to come after the main event and parasite on the crumbs.

Actually, it looks like a Czech Arms VZ-58. They are semi-automatic and non-restricted (depending on barrel length). The magazine is pinned to 5 rounds and do not need to be registered.... Although the RCMP wants to probibit them because they look scary. They shoot the same ammo as an AK-47, but also the same as the non-restricted SKS. The 7.62 x 39 is a medium power round with a maximum effective range of 400 meters, so is definitely not a 'high powered' rifle.

They are not AK-47 variants, as the internal parts are not interchangeable and are completely different. They cannot be made to shoot full auto unless the internal parts are redesigned.
vz 58 is a very nice rifle(a friend of my has one). It's superior quality to AK and it's a lot more accurate than AK. I'm not a big fan of 7.62x39, though.

Going to have to side with Ceiling Cat on this one.

An 858 is no more a variant of the AK-47 than a SKS. Not a single part between any of these three rifles will exchange between them.

Just because it uses the same 7.62 X 39 ammo also doesn't mean anything.

You can buy a bolt action Remington 700 in .223, which is the same ammo that an AR15 commonly uses, along with a Ruger Mini 14. Not a single part exchanges between these three rifles either.

My point was a CZ858 is as close to an AK-47 as you can get here in Canada.
It looks about the same, and it fires the same bullets.

Some people think its a superior weapon compared to an AK-47, but I cant confirm this because I've never shot an AK myself

Too bad the CZ858 is now classified as a Prohibited Weapon by the RCMP . Interesting how the laws are made by the people who are being paid to enforce the laws . RCMP does not have the right to make laws . Apparently they think they can .

Right now there is an amnesty on CZ858 gun owners . Will see what happens next .

Yugoslavian M59/66 SKS variant battle rifle (not assault rifle).

Cheap, around $300. Shoots inexpensive old Eastern Block ammo. Lots of fun at the range. Non restricted.
