My sidearm of choice is the Browning Hi-power. The Cz75 is a variant of the Browning Hi-power.

I put a ton of 9m through the Browning. It's a solid shooter. Where Cz75 beats it is in the recoil control and its trigger is just fantastic. Head and shoulders above anything else.

How nice to be able to shoot on your property. I've always been in a condo, so don't know the luxury of acres around you.

I own two Glocks. A Glock 17 (4th Gen). and 21SF. Both never see the light of day because I have no interest in shooting them at a range.
I did that to get my license, and that was enough. I would however love to get a nice .22 cal rifle with a scope to just have target fun with in the summers. Also need to find a new gun club in the GTA.
Where I originally signed up is out Niagara way, and never get out that way anymore.

Question, anyone else get a kick out of loading a bolt action? I remember when doing my PAL how fun it was learning on those in specific.
LOL You don't need glass for a .22, just a good sport sight. More fun that way. I learned to shoot on a 1938 Mauser(a king of bolt rifles) that was taken from a dead German by a member of my family.

Yes I do . LOL That club out in Niagara , would it be Silverdale ??? That club is very busy on the weekends . A ton of people from the Toronto area . Keep on voting the idiots in and pretty soon even the gun shops will be closed down in Toronto area .

The only way you can shoot LEGALY your hand guns is at a club that is registered . No place else . Even if you had a thousand acres of land you cannot shoot any hand gun on your property . Now for shot guns and rifles anything goes . Funny how one can bang away with a 30.06 in the woods but a simple little .22 hand gun is not allowed . WTF !!!!!

Interested in a nice .22cal. Get a Ruger. 22 Takedown semi auto . Put a nice cheap scope on it and wail away . It packs in a nice case and no one knows what you have in the bag . Ruger has some nice bolt action .22's . You can get the American Compact , Standard or wooden stock .

Love shooting the M14 .. 7.62x51 cal . and the GSG " Schmeisser " STG 44 in .22cal. Looks similar to a AK-47. LOL.

Have loaded my own shotgun shells for over 25 years now . Gonna start loading my own bullets for the rifles and other things . That should be interesting . LOL

Looking to get a Glock 19 ( GEN 4 ) to go along with my JR Carbine 9mm. Mags for both are the same so I don't have buy extras .

Lever action is my favourite feeling manual action.

Actually a lot of enthusiasts, particularly target shooters, silhouette shooters use scopes, and they are also useful for folks with compromised vision. For sure, when shooting skunks and other vermin at relatively short range, a scope isn't necessary

true enough. I always found that .22 was not big enough for scoping. Used to shoot "rabbit stumps"(in tall grass rabbits stand up on hind legs to orient themselves) with a bolt .22(it was very illegal so the quiet .22 was perfect), the problem was they'd pop up for a second or two and only a head. Open sights was the only way for a quick shot. And tons of fun.

OMG somebody please tell me how to get a gun in Canada!
I presume you mean handgun?

Take the weekend course
Fill the Possession and Acquisition License application
Get 3 references including your wife,
Send to the RCMP,
Wait 40 days for your license to be issued
Join a gun club
Do their safety course
Shoot under supervision a half dozen times at the club
Buy a handgun,
Get transfer approval from the OPP...

And you're good to go!

In the 6
1. Take PAL/RPAL course
2. Pass exam
3. Send application to RCMP
4. Pass background check
5. Wait
6. Wait
7. Wait
8. Wait
9. Receive PAL card
10. Buy gun
You forgot about the part where 2 cops come at your house to *interrogate* you. At least that was SOP back in 2001 when I got my PAL.

Fucking nosy bastards too

Local cops not involved in the process anymore. I think they did that under the old FAC system though.

Yeah, I think they cancelled it around 2005 or so.

Really retarded and intrusive questions
Cops (legally) cant refuse you a PAL anyways

> Only place I've shot hand guns in Hamilton at the Wentworth club.

> You'll love the Glock 19 Gen 4, it just molds to your hand, you'll love the feel of the grip especially. I was sold the second I held it.
I'll be getting one soon enough LOL . Thanks . I like the changeable grips that come with it .

The problem with many clubs these days is that so many people want to join that they have to be put on a waiting lists . Not Silverdale ! The club in Burlington ( Burlington Rifle and Revolver ) , you could wait 3 years or more before you get your chance to join . Even the club out in Orillia by Elwood Epps has a long waiting list.

My problem is picking which ones that I want to shoot that day . LOL

RCMP can refuse you for any reason, AFAIK. Chief Firearms Officer (OPP) can also take it away for cause, under the flimsiest pretexts.

Yeah, but they still need a good reason, plus its rarely enforced.

I think only a few hundred applicants last year got rejected, and they were mostly kooks that shouldnt own guns to begin with.

Right Ceiling Cat???? :D

2500 firearms licenses get revoked every year. 800 applications are rejected. This out of about 100,000 new/reissued licenses every year.

"NOTE: Reasons for licence refusals or revocations include: a history of violence, mental illness, potential risk to oneself or others, unsafe firearm use and storage, drug offences, and providing false information."

They will do that if you're recently divorced . They want to know if you had a wife or girlfriend living with you in the past 2 years . You have to put their names on your application . They will call these people and ask questions about you . If your not on good terms with a recently divorced wife you might have a bit of trouble . One time I left the question about a spouse or live in girlfriend empty . They called me and asked me why . I told them that I want nothing to do with a women who can stop me from enjoying my hobbies . Therefore no wifey or girlfriend . He said OK. No problem.

You mean a prohib? Or the one with the barrel sticking out of the slide?
JR Carbine is a 9mm or a 45 cal rifle . It is not prohibited or restricted by any means . The 9mm rifle takes 9mm Glock mags and the 45 takes 45 cal. Glock mags . If you have a Glock 45cal or a Glock 9mm then those two make a nice pair depending what cal. of rifle you choose . You can even get a JR Carbine takedown if you like.

No mags go on the side . They all get inserted from the bottom.

Wow, I didnt know it was that many.

I could be wrong but I think you can still take RCMP to court if you get rejected. I remember a case that went to court in Winnipeg a few years ago
