All this is easily avoided.

Do not go to Tim Horton's.

Why people drink coffee that isn't coffee and eat food that isn't food is completely beyond me.

There are so many Mom & Pop little diners all over the city that serve real food and coffee and actually like to have customers return.

Give these good folks your $$$. Horton's couldn't care less about you.

My biggest complaint about Tim Hortons is how they feel totally fine sliding a freshly iced donut into a wax bag so that when you take the donut out of the bag, all the icing sticks to the bag and you basically are left with a plain fucking donut. To be honest I don't know how much the donut is "freshly iced" and how much it's just a NEVER SOLIDIFYING icing that they fucking apply to that piece of shit donut to make everybody THINK it's fucking fresh..

Anyway.. I'm getting on in age so restrict myself to one donut every couple of weeks for health reasons.. So when I finally order one, I REALLY fucking want it.. And when that icing comes off in the bag, I just want to go fucking nuts.. I gotta stop going to Tim's...

As a guy that likes to buy the Chocolate Dip donut that situation ALWAYS happens to me!!! I have complained to the store and to the customer service at the Tim Horton's office. But no changes at the store near my house that I visit.

Another problem I have noticed is the inconsistency of the coffee. I always get a large double double dark roast (original blend before dark roast existed). Some days the coffee they make for me is GREAT. Other days (even though my order is always the same) the coffee doesn't have enough flavor, is bitter or just doesn't taste right. Sometimes I even go back to the store and ask them to replace my coffee.

I ordered a steeped tea the other day in the drive-thru. My guess is the didn't have enough in the pot for a whole cup, and they topped it off with coffee . If I wasn't halfway to my destination before I tasted it I might have considered going back and tossing it back through the window.

Another problem I have noticed is the inconsistency of the coffee.
+1. Seems worse now than in the past.

The problem is that depending on how much pressure gets applied to the cream button determines how light your coffee is. Get someone with a light touch and your coffee is darker, heavy touch and your coffee is lighter. I can't stand double cream so I really notice when they put in more than 1 cream. I especially notice this on medium coffees vs. small. Sometimes I just pitch it due to way too much cream.

I too miss the walnut crunch but my ATF were the chocolate eclairs. Mmmmmmm!

Nowadays if I want a donut I go to a bakery because they're so much better (and larger!) than Tims.

There's a Tim's near me that, one day realized they were going to run out of Timbits, so instead of selling out, they started to ration them. No one could buy more than 10. I thought that to be a little strange. Also at the same Tim's you can't buy muffins after 11:00am.

Oh, and I agree that Tim's is shit these days. A shadow of its former self. Sad really what they've done to the place.

99 times out of a hundred, if you order a toasted bagel, it's cold, hardly toasted at all.

Worst fucking bagels going.

I just completed a road trip where Tim's was my only source of coffee, I now understand why it's so popular. It's a light roast with a smooth finish, but no complexity. It's the sort of coffee one serves to Leafs fans.

So what's the problem?

Country Style has superior donuts and coffee. Plus their smoothies are exceptional, sweeping the floor with what McDonald's and Tim's offers. The perfect summertime breakfast drink.

Lately, I've found myself going to McDonald's more and more.. I even bought a huge tin of their coffee to try at home in my home brew and I'm finding it is equal if not better than Tims. Someone at work told me that the person/company that Tim's had sourcing their coffee is now doing it for McDonald's which is why they've closed the gap on Tims in the coffee wars.
This summer a friend recommended I try McDs coffee. Liked it and been going there every morning since. The buy nine coffees and the 10th is free doesn't hurt either.

Haven't tried the Dark Roast at Tims.
Stick with McD's... you're not missing out on the Dark Roast... find they don't roast it properly and it gets bitter... either that or they just don't change the pots as often as they say in the commericals

I ordered a steeped tea last week.. the cream curdled in it... was home by the time i popped the lid on the cup, not worth it to go back... but the next time i was there, i brought it up to the manager... got nothing but a so sorry... i guess they're pinching the managers for giving out freebies as well... that location is now off my list

You would think someone would come up with a method to prevent the icing from sticking to the top of the bag.. some other sort of serving/carry vessel... At one of the downtown outlets near where I work, this server put my glazed donut in one of the smaller boxes you would get for timbits.. I didn't see him do it but when he brought the box to me, I said I didn't order timbits... he said, no, its to prevent the topping from sticking to the bag... Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding... make this guy the president of the company... a few weeks later when i ordered another chocolate covered donut, he gave it to me in the bag... when I asked wtf, he said he was told not to give out donuts in the small timbit boxes... something about it costing them more... unbelieveable..

They used to bake all donuts and muffins fresh every morning, but about 10 years ago decided to cut costs and now defrost ready made donuts instead.
