I'ld hate to see this guy go.I would think,probably not... if dollar amounts were equal between Toronto and elsewhere, depending on the state he signs in there could be a decent bottom line tax incentive to jump ship... and despite his and his agent's denials the turf could play a role. Assuming a 4 year deal he will be 34 when it expires so he would have at least one further contract to sign if his production does not fall off the map. The additional wear and tear of playing on turf for 80-90ish games a year (Rogers Center + Tampa away games) , especially the way he lumbers around has to factor in to personal planning....... but if the Jays offer more than the competition over the tax disadvantage than money probably talks!
He's one of the best pure hitters I've ever seen. In a Jays uniform at least.
