Amazingly, despite some people asking how much $$$ was at stake with his discounted parking ticket, he's never had the balls to tell.
The guy is trying to sell a ticket with leftover value, and then discounted on top of it. I'll guess his ticket was proposed to people for $2 or $3 at most.
He seems to be a lax guy not caring that people pick fruit off his tree, and he doesn't seem to care that his own tree and branches loom over the sidewalk low enough for people to pick from it. If a tree's branches are low enough to pick fruit, (I've never seen a fruit tree looming that low over a sidewalk), it's probably low enough that during the summer when the branches are full of leaves and fruit it probably low enough that people have to duck to walk by it, especially on windy days.
So I'll guess he didn't care again and let the lady fill her bag.
Let me be more clear. I'm not asking what you think he did. I'm asking what would be the proper thing to do, i.e.:what would you do if you saw a stranger standing inside your yard, not the sidewalk, filling her own bag with fruit off your tree?

If I don't know the person and I never offered anyone to come fill their bags at a tree on the front yard, I'd probably tell them no, since the lady seems to be going out of her way to hoard. But then again, I've never had a fruit tree so I'm not sure how attached I'd be to it. Maybe I'd care, maybe I wouldn't. My parents had an apple tree in their back yard and gave away as many apples (the good ones) as they could.
But if someone was picking fruit off a tree whose branches are looming by the sidewalk, I'd let them since the tree/branches seem to be in the way anyway.

Oh, ok then, sorry, what you do is not stupid but your actions make you an idiot if you actually think removing someone's parking ticket is doing them a favor. Think about your rationale for doing what you do. You really think that is helping someone?
It would be a ridiculously stupid thing to do. My reasoning is ridiculously stupid. My mother raised no stupid children. I have never done such a thing.
I have trouble believing that anybody would take my claim of doing such a thing as anything other than the joke it was intended to be. How could I possibly think I was doing them a favour? How could anybody possibly think that I actually thought I was doing them a favour?
I know sometimes certain tones of voice etc. are hard to interpret when written/read, but really! Gimme a break.

Sarcasm and whatnot may be tough to interpret on the interwebz, but dumbfuckery is universal. And no offence, but you would have to be a dumbfuck to think your "clever satire" was in any way obvious to anyone. Ever give any thought to context? Have you actually read the thread in which you bothered posting your so-funny parodic comment? Can you honestly not see why some people (eg. everyone!) thought you were being serious? Dude, you were trying to be The Onion, but ended up being The Daily Currant. I seriously doubt that there is a single person here who did not think that you were as earnest as the OP in your comment. So who is being a stupid idiot again?
OH indeed we do. The only reason I feel entitled to be such a relentless asshole so often and towards so many is that I hold myself as no better than them and participate in equal and even worse dumbfuckery on a daily basis
No one asked you to post what you did and then you tried to justify it in a couple of other posts. Give you a break. Tell you what, do not make idiotic comments in the first place and then justify them. Like the original OP who found out that the thread he started turned against him, the same goes for you for the comment you made. Yes it was a ridiculously stupid but I do not know you and can only assume that since you made the comment and tried to justify it that you were were being serious.
At least you were man enough to state that you were just kidding or is it you are just saying you are after realizing what you are doing is actually stupid/idiotic. Whatever the reason, you said what you did, tried to justify it and now everyone knows what you said you do does not really happen (I hope it doesn't). Next time think about what you write because like me, I think a lot of other people actually thought you were a dumbass.
You know what I hate? I hate when I hijack a thread for my own selfish reasons, and then in no time, someone else hijacks it away from me. Now I have to hijack the hijackers. Man that grinds my gears.
4) And now the next installment of 'Is there an idiot and a jerk in this story? And if so, who is it?"
One of my neighbors has a fruit tree in his back yard near the edge of his property. Some branches extend over his fence and hang over the sidewalk. People walking under the branches will often help themselves to the fruit as they walk by. There are other branches that extend over the fence that separates his back yard from the front yard, and hang over the front yard, which is not fenced in. The other day he told me that as he left his driveway to do an errand, he saw a grown woman, not a kid, standing squarely in his front yard with a Loblaws bag, helping herself to the fruit. What would have been the proper thing for him to do? Weigh in with your answers and then I will tell you what he said he did.

A few of you have weighed in with the opinion that reaching up and picking a few while using the sidewalk was fair game, but deliberately taking all she could from inside the property was crossing the line, both figuratively and literally. I guess this means that judgement has been passed. There is an idiot and a jerk, and it's her.
And now the epilogue. My neighbor said he told her point blank that the proper thing to do is to ask permission from the owner of the house. She said okay and then walked away with what was in her bag. I told the guy he should have followed her home with his own plastic Loblaws bag and helped himself to whatever was in her fridge and cupboards. That's fair, right?
As it turned out, the lady returned another day and asked permission, and it was granted. So she might have been an idiot and a jerk, but she had no problem putting the past behind her. She came back and ended up getting what she wanted.

Sorry this happened. My intent was to simply provide some innocent levity to the thread. Unfortunately, somebody took offense to it and we now have a hijacking in progress.
I for one never believed Shack when he said he pulled off tickets from other people's cars. Nobody would do that. Who would believe something like that?
