I'd speculate that the Leafs are just buying time with the Carlyle extension. They'll go after Babcock hard by the end of next season, unless of-course if he re-signs with the Red Wings before then.

There'll be some major changes involving any one or two of Kadri, Gardiner, Phaneuf, Reimer, Lupul. I don't think they'll touch the first line unless they can get a legit no. 1 centre or top 2 pick back. They need to make a couple of changes on their top 6 dmen. I would also think that they'll I probably bring in a couple of hard nose Canadian boys to change the culture of the team.

I can see that happening.
He may not want to come here though. We will see.

Not as whacked as trading away Richards and Carter, but still a head scratcher for Philly. Hartnell is a heart and soul player, who can be a game changer with his energy. Hope Hextall plans on doing better then this one, its something you'd expect from Garth Snow.
I've read Hartnell has been butting heads with the coaching staff.

The Leafs Bolland is set to be a Unristricted Free Agent and him and the club are far apart in contract negotions ... Why do the Leafs give away 3 pics for this guy and then create a situation that they can't afford him the next summer ?

From what I've read he wants 7-8 yrs. at $4.9 million a year. I think he knows the Leafs will walk away from that kind of demand and Bolland can go elsewhere, I think he would rather play somewhere else. He probably figures the Leafs will say no and if they somehow decide to give him what he wants he's set for life.

Does anyone know if he's made a full recovery? I heard there's still lots of scar tissue, he has to use a custom made skate and still has trouble turning in one direction. I think I'd want to know he's 100% healthy before signing him to 7-8 years. I mean he's only played 58 games in the past two years.

After your report of Kessel leaving were so accurate lol ... that said I do not have as much faith in Bolland resigning if that is in fact what he wants. I would have a bit of trouble signing him to that much even if he was healthy.

You make it sound like he dislikes playing for the Leafs as much ad you do that he has to look for a way out. The fact is, he's an UFA and needs no excuses to choose any team he wants to play for. If anything he's holding the gun to the Leafs because he knows the Leafs need centres.

I'd like to see him back and 4.9 mil per doesn't border me as much as the 7-8 year term.

I'm only going by what Steve Simmons of the Sun has been reporting. By the way the NHL has set the cap for next season at $69 million. When are you guys going to cut me a break regarding Kessel? I admit I was quite surprised by the deal he agreed to. Lol

Leafs select William Nylander from MoDo in Sweden.

Looks to be a highly skilled C/W who wants the puck on his stick. Son of former NHL'er Michael Nylander so he has good genes. My only concern is his size - he needs to do some strengthening.

Leafs pick William Nylander as their first round pick. According to the Score he only weighs 169lbs. and that might be exaggerating a bit, he'll need to put on some muscle to survive the NHL.

He is compared to Patrick Kane. That's a bit of a stretch, I hope even little a bit close to Kane we're lucky but time will tell.

I can't stand it when they start comparing kids to established NHL stars, cut the kids some slack they're not out of junior leagues yet and already the media has to start piling on the pressure by telling them who they are expected to perform like.
