I have little doubt that the good/better teams/players get more of the marginal calls, but thats a long way from back room meetings predetermining the winners. There are half a dozen areas where the Raps fell short throughout the game, the imbalance of the 4th quarters call is just one. Had the Raps won this would have been a non story. There isn't home crowd in the pro leagues, when their team loses, that don't regularly bitch about the officials. Follow up conversations from Tim and Sid, are somewhat along the lines of 'consider the source' along wit other lukewarm comments..
For once i agree.

I'm sick and tired of casual fans blaming the refs for every Raptor loss...
And Dwane Casey wearing out his vocal chords yapping like a retarded dog...
As opposed to having intelligent discussions about Raptor deficiencies... and addressing them.

Example... a professional coach, Jack Armstrong, analyzes the Raps-Nets matchup.

http://www.tsn.ca/story/?id=449978

There's a good reason the Nets were favored to win...
The Raps are SOFT... and can be shut down by a physical, experienced team.

It's called "playoff basketball"... which the Nets are built for.

Raps only shot is for their shooters to get hot...
Unless DD or Ross start dropping 30 each game... it's over...
You are not gonna ride "Vinnie" Vasquez to the Promised Land.

Ross and DD have played poorly so far, not handling the defensive pressure well at all, they don't have the handles to make them pay. O We won't win more than one game if our only performing players are Val, PatPat and Vasquez.

That was the same TD who went to jail for gambling on games he ref as per your finding. I also learned from him was that he ran a website as a handicapper on NBA games called refpicks.com. Bascially, he said that every game more importantly playoffs games, there would be a meeting between people from NBA HQ and the refs to go over what type of fouls that they should look for and which one they should ignore during the playoffs. Once HQ do this they always tend to favour the team with which the league or HQ prefer to go to the next round. According to TD, in order to maximize the profits in the NBA would you NOT prefer to see a pairing of MIA and NY (or Brooklyn) as one of the biggest markets in the NBA to go through the next round? He even mentioned that the refs for the Raptors tonight's game are 'homer' refs. They cannot take on too much pressure IF the home team fans are on them early for calls going against the Raps! So,if you or anyone go to the game tonight, make sure that you have to be all over these refs for tonight's game.

your theory , or TD's theory was correct..refs gave us a tonne of calls after the "ref you suck" chants.. great game! now to Brooklyn to take game 3 !!

Your analysis of Casey is worth about the same as your thoughts on Vasquez. It was mentioned during the broadcast that Casey does such a bad job he was 5th in the voting for the NBA coach of the year for this season. Yes, he was a distant 5th, but he was better than 25 others and has an improving reecord almost every year he has coached the team.

Here are the final vote totals:

Gregg Popovich, San Antonio Spurs: 380
Jeff Hornacek, Phoenix Suns: 339
Tom Thibodeau, Chicago Bulls: 159
Steve Clifford, Charlotte Bobcats: 127
Dwane Casey, Toronto Raptors: 70
Terry Stotts, Portland Trail Blazers: 25
Doc Rivers, Los Angeles Clippers: 13
Scott Brooks, Oklahoma City Thunder: 1
Mark Jackson, Golden State Warriors: 1
Jason Kidd, Brooklyn Nets: 1

The Nets are favoured to win? Almost every opinion I've heard on that subject has all but said it was a toss up with the teams being very close, stromger on one factor weaker on another. Even last night's game was something like ±4, a toss up.

Some thoughts on what happened last night ... First I do recall that one of the teams we wanted to play ( Wizards ) are up 2-0 on one of the teams we didn't want to play ... Second I know the Hero seems do be DeRozan and I won't argue but Kyle Lowry was having a miserable game when he checked back in midway through the fourth quarter. He looked pissed ( for having a bad game so far ) and he started acting like the allstar Lowry who we have seen all year . Lowry hit a runner, then drew an offensive foul before sinking two free throws and forcing yet another turnover . I do think the team including DeRozan fed off that ...
Third I find it weird that Hansbrough didn't see any action ... He looks like a great guy to get under the skin of those Nets ...

Most american sportscasters have ignored toronto all year....I think we have to beat Brooklyn to finally get respect! as for the coaching dilemma I always find it hard to determine what they contribute as compared to what the players do? Doesn't Popovich have the easiest group of guys in the league to coach?...Has he ever had a hot head on his team?.

Popovich made those guys "easier" to coach... 19 game winning streak where no player on his team logged more than 30 mins a game.... that's a pretty impressive stat

Pop knows only the playoffs matter...
He's not coaching to keep his freaking job...
LeBron and Durant logging tons of pointless minutes may give the Spurs the 2014 title.

"we have to beat Brooklyn to finally get respect!"

Yeah, then at least take Miami to 6 games.

Winning Championships gets you respect...
Not Canadian mindset = sneaking into the playoffs...
People listen to silly Rogers Propaganda 24/7... and view it as reality.

Reality! You want reality?!?
if you want reality, review all the posts you have made in this thread and count the number of times you have contradicted yourself!
Reality is you have no idea what you are talking about!

huh? dude he has the Spurs contending for a title with a 40 year old centre, two 30 something guards and Kawai Lenard.. plus he's been genius enough to rest his big three enough , so that come playoff time , they will be ready to go.. and btw while resting them , he also won 19 games in a row.. coach of the year

Can we give some props to Pops and Duncan ( throw in Robinson ) .. The culture they have created has been amazing ... The faces keep changing but results stay the same .... I recall last year the Spurs cut " Stephen Jackson " cause he didn't fit the Spurs mold ...
