Vidic would be a smart buy because the pace in Serie A has fallen quite a bit over last 10 years. If Gervinho cant start for Arsenal but be a star on Roma, that tells you a lot.

Vidic playing for Inter is the perfect place for him to play out his remaining days till retirement
I watch Serie A regularly, as a rebuttal, let's see what happens when England and Italy face off against each other in Brazil.

Italy will probably win. But that means nothing as to which league is better, EPL or Serie A

Defeating Brazil at home is a huge mountain to climb. Espan'a will have something to say about that as well.

Joachim Löw and his team have a strong interest in this tournament as well.

It's not a forgone conclusion that Italy will win. The EPL game is all about fitness while Serie A is about tactics. Serie A has felt the brunt of Italy economic decline, they haven't been able to invest in infrastructure and can no longer attract elite foreign talent. However they still find the money for the Primavera and that's where it counts. Hopefully Italy's brash ambitious young Prime Minister can get his economic reforms passed into law.

These things come in cycles anyways. 10-15 years ago Serie A was either 2nd or 3rd best league in world. Now Germany it seems has surpassed Serie A. But that could change very quickly in another 5-10 years

We'll get a better assessment of the health of the leagues at the Fenway Group Friendly between Liverpool and Roma.

Are United still looking at Astori to replace Vidic?

Very pleased about the CL semis draw. To my mind Real and Bayern are the best squads, and I think it is better for all to get to see them in two matches home and home, rather than a single neutral ground final.

This is going to be one of the worse seasons as a Utd fan.

Liverpool winning the league, Arsenal winning the FA Cup, Man City winning League Cup and Chelsea winning the CL. I can see the stars are aligning :(

I wouldn't put much money on Chelsea winning the champions league. The true final starts next week.

I would be remiss if I did not point out that Mr. Bale earned his transfer free yesterday. That was an incredible goal under immense pressure.

Wondering if the Barca transfer ban will stick. Must have done some pretty underhanded stuff to get hammered so badly.

Apparently Klopp does not want the United job (if rumors are true)

With Moyes gone, I expect a response from the players under Giggs for the remainder of the games.

I think ultimately, Solskjaer will end up with the Utd job within few years and he is the one I want for the long term. I think there might be some managers available after the World Cup too. My pick for the short term would be Ancelotti or Capello if either of them are available.

Moyes got caught in a perfect storm, the club was already in decline when he took over.

Even thought Carlo and Alex are close friends, Ancelotti wont be coming to Manchester - but Capello might. He'll be leaving the Russians after the World Cup. He'll want complete control of player evaluations and he wont tolerate Sir Alex looking over his shoulder. Heads will rolls but he'll right the ship, just like he did with Real Madrid in 95 - 97.

Dani Alves shows how to deal with the racist pigs. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a goal!
