This morning, GM Alex Anthopoulos made the startling statement that the season is over. Here are some excerpts
"We wont win 40 games this year so we might as well concede"
So, they are making the following steps, Both Jose Bautista and Ruben Sierra are being let go. The Jays will play without a rightfielder. Colby Rasmus will cover both fields. The Jays like Colby and see this as a way to increase his marketability on the free agent market. How many other guys can play 2 positions at once?
Pete Walker will no longer be pitching coach. He has been activated and will join the starting rotation.
Melky Cabrera will not be required to move in left field. Colby can chase any balls not hit directly to Melky.
John Gibbons will not be required to look interested in the games - in other words, no change
Edwin Encarnacion will be returned to third base. He was more exciting there. Brett Lawrie will be named to the Canadian Senate.
Jose reyes has been put on the 6 month disabled list.
