So these losers with their smart phones come upon a couple fighting on the street. First the man crashes his car in the hopes to kill them both but when that does not work he chases the woman and tries to kill her before kiling himself via stabbing. The idiots instead of trying to help the women decide to stand there and film it?!!

What the fuck!!!

Fuck this generation obsessed with their smart phones and then using said devices to fame whore themselves. I'm geting sick of these people thinking filming everything everywhere they go just because their phones have a camera or vid player. I had a feeling this shit was gonna happen back in the early 2000s when i was in a ttc bus one nite and a kid just walked up to the driver and asked: "Can i take your picture?" The driver i remember said no and i remember the pissed look he had on his face. I started thinking to myself back then.. 'it's goona get alot worse once most of thse phone have cameras in them..' And lo and behold shit has hit the fan thanks to the sites like twitter and instagram being available.. There was a women recently that blogged about her eating nothing but Starbucks for a whole yr.. and just this week another stupid idiot blogged about her giving birth at home, putting her pics of the birth online. Another loser draws on bananas. All these peole hope to accomplish at the end of the day is to draw attention to themselves in the hopes of that 15 min of fame for doing something stupid.

Don't get me started on 'selfies'. Posting pics online of what you're about to eat or drink or what you're about to buy or bought just because you can and for some stupid reason think anyone cares is just idiotic.
Long before cellphones, people would've just stood around watching. If you expect bystanders to rush to your aid if you find someone running at you, you'll probably just wind up dying. Welcome to the society of selfishness and apathy. This has been the status quo for decades.

Yes but what if someone followed you on the street and recorded your every move? There is such a thing as phone etiquette and personal space.
he can record me with out being in my personal space. if someone is following you around that is the problem not the camera.

Looks like you've missed the point if you feel that way. Let me quote myself from my original post for you: " I started thinking to myself back then.. 'it's gonna get alot worse once most of these phone have cameras in them..' And lo and behold shit has hit the fan"

In other words the smart phone IS the problem cause people are using all the extra features they come with now (mostly the camera feature) as an 'excuse' to do what they didn't have or need to do before phones had those features..

Get it?

everyone has always had the right to record anything in public where there is no expectation of privacy. just because people have more accesss to exercise this right doesnt mean that it is the downfall of society. nothing is hitting the fan and your rant is dumb.

please explain how this has anything to do with the right to record and take photos in public.
So now you're a hypocrite? Hmm... Looks so since earlier you said: "everyone has always had the right to record anything in public where there is no expectation of privacy." So how can you say that link has nothing to do with your words?

you are an idiot. using wifi has nothing to do with recording and taking pictures in public. are you saying a company doesnt have the right to do what they want with their network that they pay for and let you access for free? put on your cone shaped hat and sit in the corner.

watch people walk around staring at phones bumping into shit. the zombie apocalypse is upon us but they are only brain dead.

go out for breakfast and see who is talking and who is staring at their phone.

i took my mother out for dinner last night for a celebration of sorts and i witnessed a couple sitting staring at their phones, the couple they were waiting for showed up and sat down with little acknowledgment and sat in silence while the couple that invited them out stared phones. finally the second couple to arrive started talking among themselves as the first couple couldn't out their phones down.

i will say it again. the zombie apocalypse is upon us.

I agree that it is rude to focus on a mobile device when in a social setting with people.

However, why is it OK to sit in a bar and watch the TV behind your partner?

Generally speaking, the rudeness is not caused by the smartphone or tablet...it's caused by rude people. The new technology merely provides additional opportunities to be rude. But for the truly antisocial, opportunities can be come by in other ways.

The problem is, however, what to do when the inane propaganda that comes across the smartphone is truly more interesting than most of the people at your table?

Did you read the link properly?

Guess not. Explain how recording or taking pics via wifi or phones of unsuspecting people is different from each other? Also the only corner i see is the urine stained one you're squatting at. :p

Wasn't there a famous case in New York in the 70's where a woman was raped in an alley and everyone who heard it from their windows ignored it and didn't even call police?

The issue is apathy caused by millions of people living in big cities. Its been around for centuries.

In the past many would have walked away. Hell at least they took the time to film it(and I hope call police).

Now I'm no keyboard warrior. But i would like to think I would have at least tried to yell to distract the knife guy so the person could get away. But I have to admit I wouldn't throw myself into it unarmed and hope for the best.

No she was killed in her apartment and those that heard her screams ignored it cause they were used to her screaming during loud sex.. This film was loosely based on the case..
