I'm against capital punishment but if that's what Americans want they should accept the morbidity that goes with it. This whole "humane execution" tangent is mendacity at it's most foolish.

The Nazis used the guillotine to dispatch criminals - think about that.

I do not support the death penalty. It demeans us all.

Never mind how many innocent people have been convicted of murders they did not commit.

If a state feels it necessary to execute a person, then at the least, it should be quick and humane (if you can apply that word to capital punishment).

hahahahhah spoken like true Christians.
I am surprised that Aardie and the other good christians here do not advocate stoning.

Mulroney deserves the thanks and admiration from all of us for keeping the death penalty out of Canada, when the conservative caucus was dead (!) set on introducing it.

well apparently he raped and murdered a pregnant woman and was kept alive since 1989 - so in a way he suffered 1 minute of slow death for every year of captivity. I think he probably caused more than 25 minutes of pain and suffering for the poor woman he raped and murdered so it does not seem as harsh seen in that context. I would not want to witness that execution, or any execution, but sentences should be harsher for serious crimes.

Boo fucking hoo. DNA definatively proved he was guilty and he confessed. His victim and her 7 month old fetus suffered far worse. Fuck him and all the apologists for his deserved fate.

What he deserved was the lawful death penalty properly carried out by people who thus demonstrated they held to a higher moral standard than his. What he got was torture, the same as he committed.

When you can produce a single shred of evidence that cruel punishments make us any safer and the 'civilized society' that inflicts them any better, then you'll have a point to make that might excuse such barbarity. Since no one's yet offered any, after millennia of hideous executions, the only legitimate argument for the death penalty is simply to take out the offenders once and for all. Apologists for doing so in anything but the most humane way we can, are as sociopathic as the killers.

The kinda fun you're out for?
Throughout history, christians have always been bloodthirsty. Seems like they focus on the old testament and forget the new.

Maybe know he knows how his pregnant victim felt when he raped and murdered her. I'm not a supporter of capital punishment but I won't lose a minute of sleep knowing it took 25 minutes for this guy to expire.
Death penalty bad, torture good. Got it.

He was sentenced to die, not to 25 minutes of torture. And that may have been what it was if he was conscious enough to feel it.

Not surprised you're surprised. Talk about being in the dark ages. That a cruel way to kill die, but hey, we are fully aware you say stuff just to get a rise out of people you don't or won't understand.

“We have forgiven him, but that does not negate the need for him to pay for his actions,” Stewart’s family said in a statement after the execution.

hahahahhah spoken like true Christians.
What is "true Christian behaviour?" Seemingly you and Danmand do not feel that it should cover feeling that his execution was justified, so what about imprisonment? What about long term imprisonment without possibly of parole? Should everyone just stand in a circle holding hands and singing Kumbaya or Dona nobis pacem?

Is merely the anticipation of being executed "cruel?"

The PRC simply fire a bullet into the back of the head of the condemned. Simple and quick.

In Iran they hang the condemned (including gays) by the neck.
