When (not if) bodycams become reality for cops I'll be sure to rub your nose in it, rockie ;)
I'm sure you'll try, at least in your dreams. TPS may 'try' them like many Police Services have, but few have kept, for all the reason already mentioned.

So I take it you're against video surveillance drones to catch or deter all the baddies out there?

No, when have I said that??

Drones and surveillance cameras are the way of the future, there's no stopping it IMO

Drones and stationary video cameras are much more stable platforms for surveillance. They would also be harder to jimmy or do an, 'oooops, the camera was off' stunt.

I didn't say you posted it, but you've never claimed one way or another.

If you want to see show good or how bad vest cameras would be, wear a GoPro or button camera for a day or so and see with your own eyes how limited they are and see the reaction of others to their being indiscriminately recorded.

We can't really stop the hyper-surveillance era thats coming, just like you cant stop the NSA from spying on everyone. So why bother get all worked up over it.

I'm not really into anything illegal anyways, so it doesnt affect me either way

That technology will eventually improve, just like how computers have evolved over the last 20 years

Yet so many on TERB want it now, feeling that the technology is good enough now, even though experience from various trials say not so. That's the rub. The future technology is hard to guess, just grab a Popular Mechanics magazine from the 50 and 60's. They are quite entertaining. It's the 'NOW IS GOOD ENOUGH TO CATCH THEM BIG OL' BAD COPS' argument that is flawed on a number of levels.. These vest cameras and the laws and guidelines governing them aren't there 'yet'.

Will it happen on your lifetime? How about robot cops, like in the show Almost Human. The old 'if you have nothing to hide' argument can be put both ways. Why not allow or expect cameras all over the place recording everyones activities, not just the cops. How many crimes occur when the police, good or bad, aren't anywhere nearby. Think of all the crime we could eliminate or be able to prosecute successfully. Can't wait for the drone video cameras to fill the skies of the GTA.

We already allow and expect cameras all over the place recording everyone's activities...for quite some time now actually. Yet the police will come up with every excuse in the book not record themselves, the double standards are getting tiresome frankly.

You are comparing the acceptance of stationary video, a proven technology and vest cameras, which is a technology that is not quite there yet or it won't do what you think it will do; apples and oranges. Try and stay with the group. The police are recorded plenty by their own dash camera, public, and private surveillance video cameras and all the other sources in the public domain. It's not just the police who say it won't work. References were offered the last time we went around on this merry go round. Civil liberties lawyers like Alan Borovoy are also expressing their opinion against them 'at this time'.

Dash cameras are great, but only half of the cruises are equipped with them, mostly because of costs.

I've already acknowledged that the technology isn't there YET...so perhaps you best take your own advice and "try and stay with the group".

Yet you are saying that isn't a reason of the police to not accept the cameras. You want it both ways.

The closest you came to that claim in your 5 posts to date was here;

Much like three months ago, there are even greater reasons for it than against it.

It's just a matter of time, the technology and costs are improving...we all know how fast technology has moved in the last few years, don't we? It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. A good cop has little to fear, yet many (perhaps most) seem to dread the thought.
Not quite the same, especially when you've they should have them now in past threads.

CATCH THEM BIG OL' BAD COPS'
I'm generally supportive of cops, but having them wear bodycams will make for better relations between cops as well as criminals

Not so, the main reason, if you actually read the articles, reports, and evaluations, is tech and money, but you will never accept that. Even now your claiming that cops in general are dishonest. At least that's a few steps down from you earlier claim that all cops are bent.

We are not far from that, I don't mind a drone flying over the GTA recording everything as long as privacy laws are applied.

There are many dishonest cops. Any cop that sees another cop commit a criminal offense and does not report it or lies to a court is an accessory after the fact.

Can you provide a quote of me saying that or are you just going to continue to spew your usual bs?
Not that hard.

FAIL...again.

Your reading comprehension is beyond terrible (or you pretend it to be when it suits you)...maybe take some English classes in your spare time, which you seem to have plenty of.

So the police union will support body cams if they can be made effective and affordable?

Toronto Police are now wearing them as far as I can tell.

Saw an article where, people who came in to complain about the police, were told to stand down while a desk person went to review the tapes (cars I presume..but maybe body cams too?)

Anyway, when people were told that the tapes were being pulled..... 90% walked out.

Interesting.
