Actually I did not think they played that bad. It is more, in my eyes, that Vancouver did a great job in shutting down the Leafs..
You didn't think they played that bad!????? What were you on? Outside of Reimer it was pretty much a joke. Leafs were outplayed, out hustled, out shot.

That was hard to watch.
Boland's injury just made it that much worse.

Lets see how they bounce back from this.

Well at least the Cowboys won today ... barely.
I was so pissed they pulled it out. Not that I'm anti-Dallas, but because of the 12 guys still alive in my survivor pool, 8 had Dallas. I would have been one of the last 4.

Yes. That is what I meant when I stated that I saw it as more of Vancouver shutting them down.
Yes it was not one of their better efforts. They did not have the get up and go they have shown in the past.
It looked to me as though any time they tried to get something going the Canucks stopped them which led to frustration.

I do not know ... maybe I had more Bacardi and Coke then I thought. :thumb:

That is tough. It is one of the reasons I do not play in 'sports pools' any more.

I think there was no intent but I do have a problem with the Bolland injury.
Bolland and Karlsson were injured by careless meatheads who intentionally used their legs as primary points of contact to help make a check.
In doing so they recklessly lifted their legs putting their skate blades dangerously into the back of the player`s leg causing serious injuries.
Intent or not, players should be held responsible just like unintended high sticks, head shots, etc.........

With four days rest, it would be good to see Bozak and Fraser back in the line up Friday.
Bozak's been placed on injured reserve, can't return any sooner than November 21st. Wonder if Leafs will sign or trade for a centreman, I'm guessing Bolland will be out for quite a while as well.

Why the hell don't these guys wear Kevlar socks? They would have prevented both Karlsson and Bolland's injuries. If I was a coach, I'd make them mandatory for my players.

It will be tough for the Leafs to sign or trade for a centreman because they are right up against the Cap....

It sucks that we had to let Joe Colborne go in the beginning of the season (had to trade him to the Flames)....

Karlsson didn't have them but Bolland did.

Not really ... Players salary's on IR get some cap relief ..

Teams are eligible to receive cap relief when a player is considered to have a "bona-fide long-term injury" — injuries that cause a player to miss at least 10 games and 24 days. In such cases, the team can place the player on long-term injured reserve (LTIR).

The placement of a player on LTIR does not remove the player's cap hit from the team's cap payroll — the cap hit continues to count. Nor does the placement of a player on LTIR provide the team with any additional cap-space savings that can be banked for future use while the team operates below the upper limit.

Placing a player on LTIR only provides relief if the team's cap payroll or "Averaged Club Salary" begins to exceed the upper limit. The amount of LTI relief is limited to the amount the team has gone over the cap — less the amount of cap space the team had at the time the LTIR transaction took place — and not the entire amount of the injured player's salary.

Further to the previous paragraph, eligible long-term injury space is calculated on the day the player is placed on LTIR. If the salary cap is $70.0 million and the team has a $69.0 million cap payroll the day Player A with a $4.0 million cap hit is placed on LTIR, the team's cap payroll or "Averaged Club Salary" can only exceed the cap by $3.0 million at any point thereafter.

Newsflash for Leafs fans.
There are very few teams if any who don't and won't on occasion play very poorly. If it happens on a Saturday night on the road against a team that is considered a strong team the result will not be particularly flattering. One game does not constitute need for panic, upset or change. One game may be poor, but it does not show need for change. It may show them where they need to be in order to play consistently in the upper echelon of the NHL, as Vancouver has for several years now.
Move on the the next game and learn from this. Improve with the players you have until you have determined that they can't do the job, but don't base that on one game, especially after a few very solid games in a row.

Thank you for pointing out the incredibly obvious.

Kevlar socks are skate cut resistant, not skate cut proof.
They probably mitagated the extent of the injury.

Now it is a whole week's wait until the next game.
Well they have a whole week of practise to straighten things out.

This is where one notices the differnce from the tight schedule of last year a game every other day, to this season where there are several days to a week off between games.

That is what I heard. Bolland's injury would have been worse without the kevlar socks.

P.S.
Has anyone heard anything on how long Bolland will be out for ?

You're a moron. Worse than most leafs fans. I feel a bit sorry for you and a lot sorry for your "friends" who have to pretend.
