Pondering(even spelled it correctly this time  ) the shots on goal phenomenon.

It seems to me that they like to make a lot of passes before they shoot. As if they are looking for that prefect set up.
I think they need to just blast some pucks at the net, especially on the PP ASAP. Pepper the goalie early. Try some long, bouncing shots.

I think RC will start to rein in the players. Part of the problem so far, at least this is my opinion, is he knew the team was up against the Cap. RC likely did not have much room to shuffle players in and out. Do well, you play ... too many errors and take a seat.
During the Oiler dynasty of 1983 -1989, the save percentages were well below .900, and GAA of just below 4.00, pretty well middle do the pack. Today that would be considered hoohum for sure. They just scored 90-140 total goals more than their opponents.

The prophecy hasn't panned out :(.

My prediction is the Leafs and Clarkson will have a bounce back game tonight against the Pens, they are always good at teasing fans.

I predict that I will watch the game and enjoy it at face value as a fan without making a prediction. I can't get any odds on my prediction. How much are you betting on yours? The bookies have it as even. Both teams are at -110.

Because the Sabres are tanking so bad, I wonder if its just wishful thinking of Toronto making a trade with Kadri as part of the deal to get Steve Ott.
What?!?!?

She wants to trade Kadri for Ott. What part of that don't you understand?:eyebrows:
I think you would get more than Ott for Kadri, however, the biggest problem the Leafs have if they do want to make a trade is the cap.

That would be the part I don't understand.
Sounds like a redo of Courtnall for Kordic, 5 times worse.

The cap is a problem for a lot of teams looking to make trades.

I think he understood perfectly, but he was shocked at the equation... I would be too, consider Kadri has so much upside to him. I know he still have to refine his game but the skill set is there.

Leafs' fans are not fond of talking trade which involve Gardiner, and Kadri is in the same bracket.

Kathleen is right though about Kadri/Grabbo parallel: ineffectiveness, selfish penalties, and the attitude of me-me-me...Both could be much better and endearing to fans if they remember it is a team effort.

I am SURE you will watch the game. I'm betting on Leafs, if they lose tonight I'll stop drinking Blue for a week :D... maybe changing back to Molson's Ex like all Leafs fans of the '90.

lol, didn't wish to give a heart attack, and didn't say player for player, but rather part of a deal. Kardri has great potential, will no doubt be a better play maker, and point getter. I just like the idea of someone like Steve Ott as a replacement center battling for loose pucks in corners, and grinding along the boards. I'm sure in the end, its an out to lunch concept, I just like that sort of player better, and felt Toronto has the depth in scoring.

As for the game, pleasant surprise the Leafs beat the Pens with Bozak, Lupul and Fraser all out. Would be nice if Lupul and Bozak are avail for the west coast trip. Sid looked emotionless all night.
I'm still not sure why you'd want to trade a 23 year old highly skilled centre for an undersized 31 year old pest that could be out of the league after this season.
That would be such a Maple Leafs thing to do.

I look at the Sabres roster and there are only 2 players I'd be interested in trading for, Mikhail Grigorenko(19) & Nikita Zadorov(18).
So, you'd be sending a more developed talent (Kadri) to Buffalo for either of an 18 or 19 year old. What does that do for Toronto?

What is it exactly that you don't like about Kadri, his speed, his skill with the puck on his stick, or his passion for the game?

Leafs 4 Pens 1

Kessel scores his seventh.
Reimer was very good.
All round good game from entire team.

Leafs head off to Alberta for two.

what a game, the best I've seen this season:

-Just look at the smile behind the mask at the end of the game, Rheimer is high on cloud nine :D, he is there for the team all game, especially in 2 nd period. What is not to like about the goalie tandem this year, healthy competition and feed off each other success :thumb:

-Clarkson: an emotional firecracker, certain fan fav for years.

-Together #2, Clarkson, Clement... pretty much neutralized #87 most of last night.

-Kessel is flying out there and his class shown so brightly more and more with those passes to team mates when he could have shot, what a player.

-The whole team got the message at TO time out: we gotta have this win, play with the desperation which has been lacking whole 11 game previous. They survived second and then stormed out in the third with relentless pressure, winning most of the little battles in both zones.

I made the prediction knowing that the team must win this game, and they usually do playing games under pressure. It helps that against offensive teams Leafs doing much better trading power for power than against grinding checking teams.

Go Leafs Go!

First, because it would be part of a package, not player for player to happen. On the ice, the two players are worlds apart. Ott to me, is more then just a pest. Bill Berg was just a pest.
If looking at the Sabres Roster, why would you pass on Cody Hodgson? He is 23, and from Toronto. Why show preference in Grigorenko? I'd personally give preference to players from Toronto, and the GTA.
Guys who grew loving the leaves. Last yr, I very much enjoyed Komarov, but without the money we wanted, he leaves for Russia. I'm not saying boycott others, just preference to those local who want to be here.

So what exactly don't I like about Kardri? In a word, Inconsistency. He looks more and more like Grabovski all the time. He is young, strong, hits like a beast when he wants to and has great potential. But the downside I dislike is where is that emotion now? He drives in hard alone, and often stripped of puck. He does not do well in puck battles along boards, and will take poor penalties. When he does show emotion, he can't seem to control it.
Lastly, Kardri throws great hits, but can't take them. He is often bouncing off players, or picking himself up off the Ice. A sight Grabs would often perform nightly.

You say Ott is undersized, yet both guys are the same. When you look at highlights of the two, you see that Kadri are all highlight goals with a few big hits. Ott is more like how Tucker was.
Steve Ott highlights

At the end of the day, Kadri isn't going anywhere, and I'll always hold a bias/like to guys like Roberts, Clark, Tucker, Shanahan, Iginla, Lucic, Morrow, etc. Not goons, but sandpaper players, who will score too.

But the way the team is playing, and as guys return from injury, Kadri is far from a concern to address. He has lots of talent around him to allow his skills to develop more. As I mentioned, my only concern leaf is Ranger. All others are really doing well.
Why pass on Cody Hodgson? He's had a bad back since he came in to the league, he's damaged goods. That is why preference to Grigorenko.
I don't give a rat's ass that he's from the GTA, Kadri is from London, Ontario. He qualifies under the Don Cherry Xenophobia Clause just as much has Hodgson.
Do you really think that Red Wings fans cared that most of their star players were from Russia & Sweden, not Michigan, as the players skated with the Stanley Cup?

Yes, Ott & Kadri are the same size, only one issue with that, Ott is supposed to be a banger, a pot stirrer. Kadri is a skill player, not a grinder.
Komarov, 3rd line grinder, has a chance to go home, and make about triple the money he could with Toronto. You & I would do the same thing.

Inconsistency is an issue with Kadri? It's an issue with most 22-23 year olds in the NHL. Crosby's & Ovechkin's don't skate into the league every day.
I'm not sure what your problem is with Grabovski, works hard, never quits, hits everything in sight, seems to be doing just fine in Washington.
How the Leafs let him go and kept Bozak is beyond me, but Dave Nonis and his co-horts have forgotten more about hockey than I'll ever know.

It's nice that you like guys like Iginla, Roberts, Shanahan, they're Hall of Famers, or will be.
The rest, I get it, you like guys with 'sandpaper', tell me please, how many Stanley Cups have Iginla, Tucker, Clark & Morrow won with all their 'sandpaper'?

You say Kadri can't take great hits, how many games has he missed due to injury from such incidents?

Gcostanza dude, the lady was just making a remark about Kadri NOT being up to his potential and we all know that, and hope he will soon one day be the one we ALL love to have as a LEAF. Till then, he has NOT bought into RC system of responsible defensively YET.

All those tit bits aside, Kadri turned in a real good effort last night as #1 centerman, Kudos to him and pray he keeps it up. We might have woken up a monster :D.
