Wasn't the "son of god's" girlfirend an SP?

lmfao, you so cute, and you are correct. I my self believe we are all sexual beings and as long as it between two consenting adults and is not used to abuse or use it is a healthy thing. I think people should be able to have their own beliefs about a GOD, using it as a way to try and control other people(wars and judgmental people) should not be what it is about. I believe religion(in some cases) is for people who fear hell, spirituality is for peoples who have been there. xo amber

Further to Jessica's point/question. I think the great moral philosopher, Woody Allen, said it best. When asked if sex was dirty, he said: "Only if it's done right". Course, he screwed the baby sitter, and that's just wrong.....

Do you also obey Leviticus 11:10, Deuteronomy 14:9 and Deuteronomy 22:11, Leviticus 19:19?
The thread isn't about me, and no I don't follow biblical teachings since I am not a believer lol. I just answered the question you posed that's it.

I became an Atheist about two years ago. I know some people hate Canada Man's posts, but it was one of his postings to a Richard Dawkins
..................................................
I had been agnostic for 15 years. My deconversion however started with the problem of hell. As an evangelical I believed that hell was real and it was eternal, but my rational self started to nag me about the billions upon billions who would be spending eternity in hell.
.........................
The problem I see with outspoken atheists such as Dawkins and those
behind the atheist bus campaign is that they take religion way too seriously,
probably more so than evangelists. Vast majority of the world's christians are
living in a secular world and I doubt many christians live as if their lives depend
on the truthfulness of the doctrine of eternal torment notwithstanding their
professed belief.

Christian religion is in many ways a wish-washy faith. I kind of doubt
even Billy Graham deep down believes those who rejected his preaching
are going to spend eternity in hell. If you by chance have read the works on
'Open theism' by evangelical theologian Clark Pinnock you might
understand what I mean. With Christian faith anything goes.

I can go on but my point has been made.
Your point seems to be that you never have outgrown biblical literalism. When you rejected it, you threw out the baby with the bath water.

I see Nobody already made this point.

The topic on hand is religious escorts. Majority of the world religions, Islam, Christianity and Judaism see fornication and adultery as a major sin.
It rather depends upon what you mean by this doesn't it? Are you saying that two unmarried people having sex (fornication) is a sin which worse than or equal to defrauding your business partners?

Are you saying that adultery is "cookie cutter" that the situation of someone who has hung together with a sexless marriage for the sake of their children or their spouse who they other wise love is exactly the same as someone who starts cheating on their wife a week after the wedding?

If you don't take the words of the bible at face value then you're just like an archer who shoots an arrow, draws a target around the arrow where it lands, and says bullseye. When the bible says the earth is 5000 years old, what it really means is 4 billion years old. When the bible says that bats are birds, what it really means is that they're mammals. And by extrapolation, if the bible said that grass is blue, it must really mean that grass is green. No matter what scientific inaccuracies the bible has, you'll always find an excuse to justify it, which is comical and ridiculous.

Let the insults begin

God had a baby born to a couple who did everything possible to have a healthy baby,...the baby is born without eyes and legs.

I know,...this "thing" ( god) decided to test them,...give me a fricken brake,...this shit has been going on for recorded history,...but this "thing",...loves you.

And that is what religion is based on ???

Also,...and were are back with this,..."you can't prove (a) god, (pick one),...doesn't exist",...that is without a doubt the most useless argument anybody could make on any subject.

Religion(s), pick one, were created as a way of governing,...nothing more,...nothing less !!!

What is not comical and ridiculous, but rather tragic and sad, is that having been brought up in the literalist tradition, you remain unable to see the validity of non-literalist Christianity, even after having tossed over the traces.

Fast, that is an extremely fundamentalist way of looking at the world (ironically TERB as a whole has one of the most fundamentalist and literalist views of the Bible and Christianity of just about any group I know.) I can't think of a single mainstream Christian denomination which believes such God awful theology!

Lol that's too funny. My mother being a coupon queen deal finder wouldn't be able to respond to me without smiling to herself and saying nothing if I said that to her. He did pay for our sins so it only makes sense to get your money's worth.

I grew up in the church and I consider myself religious but I don't go to church every Sunday like I supposed to(lol I'm usually just getting home and/or going to bed when she's leaving for church) and i'm afraid the church will burst into flames when I walk through the doors sometimes lol. I do it in my own way or go when I can. But experiencing so many messed up and twisted things that go on in the church at times by people who claim they are devout Christians has shown me that compared to them I am a saint and I would never consider myself an angel by any means lol. The stories that go on could make a good tv show.

God knows our story and why we do what we do so I would hope he has compassion. I believe God loves gay men and Lesbians and that's considered a sin. There's so many sins people choose to ignore or follow, it's all about your personal relationship with God, whatever your religion. Hopefully that all makes sense.

I keep being told that Jesus died for my sins.
So I figure I can sin as much as I want, It's already paid for.

Give it up, Aardvark. The only thing more humourless and earnest than a biblical literalist, is the stripe of atheist that tries to hammer every religious round peg into that square hole. Let's you and I just back quietly out of this thread and get back to being at polar opposites of every other issue. This... this agreeableness... it's downright disconcertin'!

So Bible is just a suggestion, you get to pick what you want to believe. Must be nice, but kinda defeats the purpose.

Adultery is adultery. Sounds to me like you trying to defend a personal issue lol

What the... who the... ? Jesus fucking Christ! How exactly does someone's manner of belief defeat the goddamned purpose? Are you seriously trying to tell us that "If you believe in God you can only do it in the prescribed manner that I approve of"? Who the fucking hell are you to tell me what to believe, or worse, how the fuck to believe? Whether I take the bible as parable, metaphor, or as God's own truth, or to shore up the short leg of the couch is indeed my own motherfucking choice. What you have to opine on the legitimacy of my choice (of belief) has less than fucking zero to do with matter.
