The buzz on twitter indicates the Leafs will demote Korbinian Holzer to the Marlies to get under the cap.
The team will run a short (NHL) roster of 23, instead of the standard 24 (18 + 2 dressed).

An NHL roster is 23.
Leafs may go with a roster of 22. At least that is what I heard.

Tropp sustained a broken jaw in a fight with Jamie Devane of the Maple Leafs and underwent surgery, the team announced Wednesday. Tropp is expected to miss five to six weeks.

What does that have to do with this year .. This isn't the NFL ... You can't rework a contract .

Should have used the word impossible instead of illegal. The cap hit is fixed once contract is signed.

Maybe Nonis can dump Liles' salary if he throws in Colborne to Burke for a couple of draft picks. Burke doesn't mind trading away draft picks and like what was said before, he'd save face by taking Liles and the contract. Besides, the Flames are terrible this year, early favourite for last overall. And their delusional owner said over the summer that he expects Feaster to get them into the playoffs.

I would've liked to see how it was when Stajan bumped into Burke in the hallway when he arrived in Calgary.

Why would Burke worry about saving face on a deal that he is no longer accountable for... by making a bad deal he is then accountable for? Makes zero sense.

Your probably going to have to give up a 2nd rounder + more simply to get rid of Liles. Your certainly not getting picks in return.
