Jays sweep! sure wish I could have said that more often this year!
Goins is friggin awesome! His defense should be constant, if he can continue hitting he will really help.
Rogers really wants to start next year, his best game to date. (maybe as major leaguer)

The MLB season is too short. The Jays are just starting to peak.

They have won the last 3 or 4 series against contenders. It looks good on them.

It really would be great to see us end on a high note (though we have ended on a high note before....)

I'm still liking Goins and wow Sierra and Gose have stepped up.

I hope Rogers and Redmond both are starters next year..... (and yeah I hope Kawasaki is still in Toronto lol)

Goins appears to be for real, Gose can sure play defense just hope the bat comes alive. Sierra I like him ....but.... while he can make some awesome plays he also can screw up. His bat looks pretty good.
I would love to see Pillar start to hit. He is an awesome fielder and has great baseball smarts.
The way Redmond Happ and Rogers have pitched they all should get serious consideration for next year. Happ has to be more than a 5 inning pitcher.
Kawasaki is worth keeping. The players love him, the fans love him and he is a decent player. I hope they keep him too Isturis will get you a piece in a trade.

Angels up next!

Last year at this exact date the Blue Jays were on a 4 game winning streak .. That is why it's hard to gage wins in September .

This year it is just nice to get a win.

FYI my post did not mention wins or winning streaks, it was a discussion of the September call ups and three pitchers try to earn starting roles for next season.

I'd rather they didn't rely on those 3 as starters. Nice to have 1 or 2 in reserve to cover for injuries. They need to acquire one or possibly 2 bona fide starters. With Hutchison, Morrow and maybe Drabek also returning they will then have some degree of choice.

The Jays announced today they are playing 2 games in Montreal's Olympic Stadium against the Mets at the end of Spring Training next year. I remember when the Jays used to come back to TO for a weekend, usually during March Break, back in the early 90's. Would be nice to see them do that again too.

Hate to bring this up but before the start of the this season they acquired 3 starters to go with Morrow and Romero. At this point Dickey and Buerle have come around Johnson Morrow and Romero were busts and two are on the DL. Unless they pry a bonafide starter loose from another team not much on the free agent market. Strohman apparently is getting close but the consensus is at least 1 year away.

Well, Morrow should be ok by next year and Drabek is in the mix. Plus, Redford, Rogers and Happ. Looks more solid by far than last off season.

Did you catch Drabek against the Twins? Did not record an out and couldn't find the plate. Hope it was nerves but he showed nothing encouraging.

Drabek has a live arm and the potential to be a big league winner....or the right handed Ricky Romero. And perhaps a pet peeve - but perhaps a factor - is get rid of that number 4 on his back. Pitchers always have double digit numbers in the majors (except Josh Towers and what happened to him?). The single digit number implies something extraordinary. Given his record, hard to believe that 4 is Drabek's lucky number (and he has heard ball four too many times). But if he likes 4, give him 54 or some other boring number. Then get him a better pitching coach at the major league level. The skill is there.

I don't know about you guys. I rather tank for better draft pick. It's clear we need to do a little bit of retooling and rebuilding our lineup.

All the prospects we gave up in the mets/marlins deal, we need to restock them.

Pretty awful start by Buerlhe who gives up 5 hits in the first innings for 4 runs. Just when it looked like the Jays had a reliable pitcher.

Angels have exactly the same record as the Jays (a very poor one of course).

It was his first big league appearance in forever..... He is 25...
. I don't think it's fair to judge him by that one inning (I watched it too....)
Tonight sucked for Mark .... but im happy for Gose.

Buerhle has been solid.... im not giving up on him based on tonight.

I'm with you Jenn......it takes a while for most draftees to make to the bigs. Tanking makes no sense to me.
They are a couple of players away from being competitive.Goins fills one hole(defensively anyway) Jays need help behind the plate and
some consistent starters. Could use a bat on the bench too. Bullpen is solid. So a few pieces and fewer: injuries and they should contend.

I really feel positive for next year.
I know people whine about Toronto fans bc we accept mediocrity... I really dont care much about any other sport- so that is not fair. I was at World Series games in both 92 and 93 ... so i know how good it feels to have a winning team..... I want that again. (I was too young to enjoy the wins
.. and not from Toronto then. ..)

I love seeing blue Jays gear on people- I think the jays have more fans than the leafs.....

Our players like being here (...well maybe not Burhele...). And bc guys like Alomar chose to stay here- I kinda feel pride in our team bc the players make me feel civic pride (really- I think that is a vital factor in satisfying female sports fans... we need more than chosing a random team to care about... we need a reason and this team gives me one....)

I want us to win for our city.

I really believe in what we have though.

I will support the Jays through this season and im ready for 2014. I hope there are a few small tweaks but dont believe an overhaul is needed.

Romero did well tonight- his messed up head needed this...
