Woot woot, I finally know one!:dance:

Pound cake was originally made with a pound of each ingredient. Sugar, flour, butter and eggs if I remember correctly.
Then you would end up with 4 lb. plus cake, if you allow for water and other ingredients. Making for a pretty huge cake. The info I have is that the original recipe called for 1 lb. of butter.

I know, it's a crazy amount of cake, that's why it stuck in my head. Why would anyone need that much cake?

Unless they're doing this :caked: :caked: :caked: :caked:

Your info is absolutely correct, the original recipe did call for 1 lb. of butter. Along with 1 lb. of flour, sugar, and eggs. :p

Which just made me wonder, how many eggs make a lb.?

You must have been in their holding cells a time or two.
No, I just happened to remember how they used to answer the phones.

You do realise the Kojak series finished in 1978? That's 35 years ago. Were you around then, looking forward to a Kojak episode as a highspot of your saturday evening?

I was around, but I was too young to remember the first run of Kojack. I picked it up in the re-runs. I spent time in California as a kid because my dad had business there. We lived in the Sea Cliff area of San Francisco. In Canada back in the early 80s, there was the CBC and CTV and that was about it. In US cities there were the three big networks like ABC, NBC, and CBS. There were the second and third tier stations that ran mostly re-runs of old TV programs. Kojack, Rockford Files and Police story were run continuously on the second tier stand alone affiliate stations. It was re-runs all day long except when they cut in for the news from the big networks.
